The Journey
At the young age of about 13 or 14 a wise man said to me, “You really like these dirt bike things, huh? I replied of course, with, “Yes, Yes I do. Very Much So.” He then proceeded to tell me that, if he had found something he loved that much, he would have held on to it forever. That information stuck with me from that day forward. It translated into me paying way more attention to the things that needed fixed, not just on my dirt bike but on everything. Then high school came around and I got into the Small engine repair program. Then I met with the Representative from MMI. I felt blessed to have found something at such a young age that really caught my attention. I shut out all the Nay Sayers and held onto the positive input. I had people tell me daily it was a terrible idea to pursue being a mechanic. Are there rough days? Yes there are, but there is with everything. In 2009 I graduated high school, emptied my bank account and moved 2200 miles away from home at 18 Years Old. I knew EXACTLY what I was doing. Nothing was going to stop me, or get in my way. Just ask the ones that tried. Was I homesick? Every single day. I buried myself in my school work, and my job at the time, and kept on moving forward. I had a lot of fun, and I met a lot of people. I probably learned more about myself and life in general in the 2 Years I spent out west than most people do in a good portion of their adult life. Even after getting my first job as a mechanic in a rinky d**k Kawasaki shop in Springfield Missouri, I still didn't know if it was something I was going to stick to. I worked a couple really good construction jobs and thought I might take that route. In 2014 I took a job as a service writer for Honda of the Ozarks. I wanted to try something different, but in the same business. This job position, surrounded by some of the best people I had the chance of working with at the time, saved my career for the Powersports industry. I met ALOT of cool customers, sold a lot of really awesome jobs, met the most amazing people and was really starting to enjoy it all. Moving back to Michigan in March of 2016 I took a Job at Peacock LTD. Hometown shop, thought it was going to be great. I could put some fresh blood in the service department and really try to help grow the local industry. I found the market was much different in this part of the country. After 2 Years, I felt Peacock just wasn't a good fit. I was really excited about coming home and being able to work with the guys that helped start the Journey. I always felt like something was still missing. Like I was meant to do more. So here I am. May of 2018 I decided to try to do it all on my own. With the help of all me amazing customers and the support of my friends and family. I made it. LUTHER POWERSPORTS moves forward.
