Nerve Gel Injection Issues:

Medicare has changed the process of processing payment for gel injections. They want to move the costs from Part B to Part D prescription drug coverage.

The issue is that those with Tricare for Life don’t have Part D drug coverage since your prescriptions are covered by TFL.

Solutions:
1. Your provider can continue to administer the gel injection and bill the entire procedure including the gel as a Part B procedure.

2. Your provider can order the injection from a Tricare for Life Specialty Pharmacy such as Accredo, Wal-greens, CVS. The provider will only bill to administer the injection.

If you are asked for a copay or billed for a copay just kindly remind your provider that you have secondary insurance with Tricare for Life that pays them.
