🚨BREAKING NEWS 🚨
Biden cancels federal student loan debt for millions. Here are the deets:

- Forgiveness up to $10,000 of federal student loan debt for borrowers earning less than $125,000 a year.

- Forgiveness up to $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients earning less than $125,000 a year

- Extended pause on student loan payments and interest - ONE FINAL TIME - through Dec 31

- Capping income-based payments for undergrad loans at 5% of the borrower's monthly income.

To clarify what "up to" in "up to $10/20,000" means - your relief is capped at the amount of your outstanding debt. For example, if you're eligible for $10,000 in debt relief but have a balance of $8,000 remaining, you will only receive $8,000 in relief… makes sense lol

This is a HUGE win for student loan borrowers and will change the lives of millions of people. Personally, as someone who paid off my debt myself, I am very excited for everyone who qualifies. What are your thoughts? If you qualify.. HOW DO YOU FEEL RN OMG OMG!!!

As a small business that encourages and supports financial freedom, the MSTRPLN family is devastated by the overturn of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court.

This will hurt millions of people who seek to become financially independent.

Studies have shown that those being denied abortions are more likely to experience economic hardship and insecurity than those who receive an abortion. This means women face higher rates of poverty, unemployment, and a greater need for government assistance, which keeps families in a cycle of poverty for generations.

The need for access to abortions will drastically decline with access to comprehensive sexual education, a national paid family leave policy, and affordable health and childcare. But until that happens, here are a few resources you may need one day if you CHOOSE to have an abortion:

Settles Gender Discrimination and Pay Equity Lawsuit for $118 Million 💰⁠

The lawsuit involves women across 236 job titles. In this lawsuit, Google is accused of denying promotions to women, putting overqualified women in roles that paid less, and paying women less than men. So, seriously where's that money? And the "compensation" for this is only $7,600. ⁠

Allison Gamba at Goldman Sachs was not even considered nominated for a (well-earned) promotion which seemed to be because she was a woman and mother who had taken maternity leave.⁠

The settlement still needs to be approved by a judge, which is taking place on June 21st.⁠

Women's stories need to be heard; we need workplaces that don't stall corporate hierarchy or have a pay gap. We need gender balance. It's time to hold these big corporations responsible! ✊🏼⁠

It’s been an emotional few weeks for those of us in the US. Mass shootings almost every week, peoples’ rights are being taken away and today is the two-year anniversary of George Floyd’s death.

It’s important to stay informed on current events but it’s also equally important to take care of yourself amid the never-ending cycle of bad news.

If you’re up to it and want to donate in support of some of our favorite causes, swipe through the carousel, but if you need to log off and put yourself first today, this is also very much ok.
Here are a few ways to balance your mental health when the news is traumatizing:

1️⃣ Balance and monitor your news consumption: Give yourself a timed window to consume news and try not to consume any form of news media an hour before bed.
2️⃣ Meet YOUR basic needs: Eat, get some good sleep, get outside for a walk - these general health practices will help you feel mentally and physically strong enough to take in the stressful news cycle.
3️⃣ Be gentle with your feelings: acknowledging your feelings of sadness/anger/frustration/anxiousness. Ignoring them won’t help them go away.
4️⃣ Be involved in your community: if you’re feeling overwhelmed, think of a few things you can do to make the world a better place.

Let’s be very clear - overturning Roe v. Wade will hurt low income families and people of color, keeping them in a cycle of poverty that is almost impossible to get out of. So as a community of people who believe in financial independence - let’s take the politics out of it and speak facts.

- 61% of women who were turned away from having an abortion ended up below the poverty level.
- 51% reported being unemployed and needing government assistance
- their debts increased by 78% ‼️
- the number of negative public records such as bankruptcy and eviction increased by 81%
(I say women bc the study focused on cisgender women but the financial circumstances of non-binary and trans people who were declined abortions would definitely trend the same way)

Not to mention when you force someone, who sought an abortion, to carry to term without the social programs needed to help support the baby and its family…. You’re making it harder (if not impossible) for them to get out of poverty and become financially independent.

If any of this upset you, remember to VOTE. Mid term and local elections are starting now so pay attention to who’s running bc as we’re seeing at this moment, that s**t matters.

ps. Wanting an abortion is 100% considered an emergency in my book so if you need to dig into your EF to travel out of state to get the produce done - you do that.

If you find inspiration in her words, I’m happy for you ❤️ Take motivation & inspiration wherever you can find it. Kim has given great advice in previous interviews… but this wasn’t it.
