Today, September 10th, marks World Su***de Prevention Day. Let us all raise awareness of the role we play as organizations and as individuals in making a difference.

At The Positive Results Corporation, we believe that everyone deserves to feel supported and valued, especially during the most challenging moments in their lives. That's why we prioritize mental health and well-being initiatives for our communities.

For example, we train Black and Brown Transitional Aged Youth to be Mental Health Ambassadors. They participate in a PAID 12-week program having impactful conversations to address mental health issues.

“Black youth are two times more likely to die by su***de compared to their white counterparts” according to the Ccenter for Su***de Prevention and Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus Ohio.

according to the US Center for disease control attempted su***de is on the rise among a very specific demographic: black teenagers increasing by 73%

According to the study and NYU school of social work states rates of su***de attempts among black female adolescence is accelerating.

Su***de is the second leading cause of deaf teens of all demographics to accident, and third leading cause of death among black youth between the age of 15 to 19 and 2017.

Suicidal ideation is a complex problem affecting people of all ages, from all walks of life with many contributing factors, including mental health conditions, stress, and social isolation.

There’s really a single thing to drive someone to attempt su***de, and similarly there are many factors – from bullying to stigma to childhood trauma and racism – but no one caused it could help to explain the increase in su***de among black youth. (according to an article in Time.com)

We have a responsibility to spread hope, challenge the negative stigmas that paint this issue and provide resources for su***de prevention.

Remember, you are not alone. There is hope and help available. If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, please reach out for help:
