Feed Your Kidneys 2026
We gathered at Harvesters food bank in Kansas City last night to provide education, and worked as a team to pack over 100 boxes of healthy snacks that will be distributed in the area.
Local leaders, champions, and a few family worked the line, add some fun, and presented harvester’s with a check to feed more!

we had less crowd (August, vacations, a few cancellations) but appreciate all who came out!!

Chapter members took a shift of activities on Friday Night at Camp Chimer in its 40th Summer for Children’s Mercy and NKF -
ANNA Heart of America plus a few family recruits -
Served as game leaders in a rotation through the camp outside on a gorgeous night on Friday in Kansas City!!
Granddaughter and I did Cyber Cash Heist … and with this activity we made do for lots of adjustments with darts and wheelchairs and sometimes had to just skip the rules..
Husband and son were on duty for picking up superballs out of pasta with your toes or feet- they reported that one girl set a record for 9 balls in 30 seconds - to be quickly replaced by 12 balls in 30 seconds … the boy was nine balls in 60 seconds … Girls Rule!! lol.. 
Amy Connell was trying to proved some safety at the bounce house - meanwhile they were flying by to the the sq**rt guns (Say ‘water fight’)
Ashley Arrowood took charge at the cup stacking station for Pyramid panic.
And Tiffany Brown was in for a crazy time at Sonic Shootout ..
We all did set up and take down and had a blast!
Best part of the whole process was watching them let go and so many laughs…

Heart of America Chapter and followers

I had the enormous privilege to represent nephrology nurses in Washington DC on Capital Hill at both Missouri and Kansas offices talking about issues and to advocate for the patients and profession we care so deeply about.

We advocated for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Programs, support for National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) research funding, passage of the Living Donor Protection Act, and the Kidney Care Access Protection Act to help ensure continued access to innovative therapies for patients living with kidney disease or thanked them for co-sponsoring
So much of the work that we talked about in our meetings this week has bipartisan support..
As one of my Offices HLA said all of our asks are “no-brainers”! Assuring me they would sign on to anything they weren’t already supporting.

Advocacy is one of the most important responsibilities we have as healthcare professionals because the decisions made in Washington directly affect the patients we serve every day.

I carried with me the stories of my family and patients I care for who have kidney disease. Sharing those experiences continues to inspire my commitment to improving the lives of kidney patients.

I was proud to represent nephrology nurses, ANNA, and really proud to advocate for nursing and kidney issues!
