This is the version that genuinely sounds like you:

People talk about risk as if it is always a bad thing.

I don’t see it that way.

Moving to Japan was a risk. Building businesses was a risk. Investing in crypto when most people thought it was a joke was a risk.

Some decisions made me money. Some cost me money. A few were bloody awful.

But I made the decision, owned the result and kept moving forward.

Doing nothing is also a decision. And sometimes that is the biggest risk of all.

No risk. No story.

I absolutely love this bloke. 😂

Two years ago, he said he wouldn’t cut his hair until United won five games in a row.

It hasn’t exactly worked out in his favour—but that isn’t the point. He made a bet, gave his word and has stood by it.

For me, this is bigger than football.

In business, your word is your reputation. Circumstances change and deals can be renegotiated. Trust cannot. Once people stop believing what you say, very little else matters.

I was brought up the old-school way: say what you mean and do what you say.

Simple.

I don’t care how many times I see or hear them—it always gives me goosebumps.

Incredible machines, flown by the very best. They put a lot into perspective: what was sacrificed, what we have to be grateful for, and why sometimes you should simply stop and enjoy the moment.

I’ve never believed there’s only one way of doing something.

People will always tell you how they would do it. And I’ll listen. I might even agree with them.

But that doesn’t mean it’s the right way for me.

Over the years I’ve made some very good decisions and some bloody awful ones.

That’s business. That’s life.
