Clark County officially recognized April as Fair Housing Month. And while April is behind us, the work isn't.

I was proud to be in that room representing the Silver State Fair Housing Council, standing alongside people who understand that fair housing isn't just a proclamation. It's a fight we show up for every day.

Thank you, Commissioner McCurdy. The work continues.

I got a call from the Nevada Independent for an interview. They were covering AB540, the $133 million Nevada housing bill, and wanted to know what it means for buyers trying to get into a home right now.
I told them what we see every single day. A lot of people can afford a monthly mortgage payment. It's saving for the down payment that typically stops them. That's the gap we work to close.
This article ran in the Nevada Independent and was picked up by the Washington Post, AP and news outlets across the country.

8 News Now covered the Fair Housing resource fair this month and interviewed me in my role as Vice President of the Silver State Fair Housing Council

If you've never heard of them, they are Nevada's nonprofit fair housing resource. They educate renters, buyers, landlords and housing providers. And if you think you've been discriminated against in housing, they will help you understand your rights and walk you through filing a complaint. They have been doing this work in Nevada since 1989.

I believe most people want to do the right thing. A lot of the time, they just don't know what they don't know. Education is where it starts.

If you are renting or trying to buy in Las Vegas, you have rights. And there are people in this city who will protect them.
