Ok yall let’s talk about these cash advances and why you should NOT take them on January 2nd! All though this is a great marketing strategy for us tax pro’s to lock our clients in, does it really work in your favor?

1. The early funding rate is super low, and this is why! The banks have 2 stages for refund advances! Pre-Ack & Post-Ack. Now y’all know I been doing this a VERY VERY long time! So i know what I’m talking about. I’m not new to this! Pre-Ack meaning it is going to the bank prior to an IRS acknowledgment. Post-Ack means it goes to the bank after acknowledgment from the IRS. Pre-Ack starts January 2nd and runs to the day the IRS opens their e-file system. The bank is less likely to take a risk on a return that has not been acknowledged by the IRS. This is why we see the banks approving $500/ $750 advances verses the full $7000! Now some clients may receive the full $7000 (I believe it’s because the client has previously used that bank to facilitate a refund transfer in previous years)

2. YOU CAN NOT AND SHOULD NOT APPLY FOR ADVANCES WITHOUT ALL YOUR INCOME DOCS (W2’s & 1099’s) Once we hit submit to the bank we can NOT pull that return back and add anything to it! So if you know you are missing docs just wait! Yes you may get the advance, but now you run the risk of the rest of your return being put on hold and/or possibly adjusted! RNZ Financial Services CAN NOT AND WILL NOT FILE WITH YOUR LAST STUB(S), but we will give you a quote!

I’m not saying don’t take the advance. I’m saying 1. Wait until the IRS officially opens (usually around the end of January) 2. Do not do it until you have ALL your documents.

** REMEMBER NOT EVERYONE WILL RECEIVE THE FULL $7000. YOUR ADVANCE IS A PERCENTAGE OF YOUR REFUND. IT IS BASED ON THE LIKELIHOOD OF A RETURN TO FUND OUT NOT CREDIT. IF YOUR REFUND WAS HELD AND NOT DISBURSED IN PREVIOUS YEARS OR IT IS SCHEDULED TO BE OFFSET (taken fully or partially) HOLD OFF AND JUST FILE YOUR RETURN AS NORMAL!**
