🔔 Lansing Students Save for Their Future 🔔

🍏 Lansing SAVE is a college savings program in partnership with MSUFCU, the City of Lansing and the Lansing School District. This program not only provides K - 11th grade students with a Children's Saving Account to save for college, but also monthly financial education lessons in the classrooms for grades K - 8th. During the monthly visits, the MSUFCU Financial Educators collect students' deposits for their SAVE accounts.

💳 In the district's three high schools, the MSUFCU Lansing SAVE team visit monthly during lunch periods. During these visits students can make deposits into their Lansing SAVE accounts. This school year, each deposit made was an entry into a high school raffle to win a $100 gift card. MSUFCU awarded one winner per SAVE grade, so three lucky students won.

🏫 The third year sponsoring a high school raffle, this incentive has boosted student engagement and increased deposits, which encourage consistent saving. Monthly visits to high schools also ensure continued financial education and presence.

🎉 With the help of this incentive, high school deposits increased from 26 deposits in the 2024/2025 school year to 153 deposits this year. A key factor in this growth was the work of the Lansing SAVE high school interns, who increased student engagement through peer outreach and hosted participation events at Eastern and Everett High Schools. Their efforts helped raise awareness of the program and encouraged more students to make regular deposits into their SAVE accounts.
