It's crazy to think I started my career in the mortgage industry twenty years ago. I was a temporary employee who landed an assignment at the front desk and loved the energy of the business from the very first day. I wanted to learn as much as possible, so I assisted in any area of the company they would allow me to help in, and before I knew it, I landed a job in Data Entry, and it wasn’t long be

fore I was a Processor reviewing loan files for accuracy, completing verifications, gathering conditions, and ensuring all the documents were in the file as we moved toward Final Approval. I left the industry for quite a while, and it wasn’t until my husband and I refinanced our house in August 2020 that I started to feel that calling home. Technology had changed the business so much, but the documentation needed to put together a residential loan package was still the same. Building relationships and helping others was also still the same, so in December 2020, I made the decision to become a Mortgage Loan Officer. I felt I could make a positive contribution to people’s lives by helping them understand and navigate the process of making one of – if not the - largest investments of their lives. The chills that come with hearing the words, “Thank you for helping us get the home we are going to bring our little baby home to,” is something I don’t ever want to forget! To know I’ve helped families save money each month or finally make those home improvements by refinancing brings a kind of happiness that I don’t think many ‘jobs’ can bring. I love getting to know my clients and their goals and developing a plan that can help them get there on their timeline. I love building trust and growing friendships with my Referral Partners. It brings me joy to know they all depend on me and appreciate my dedication. They know I’m honest and transparent, and I’m going to be available and communicate information as quickly as possible. Five years of walking alongside people during one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. Five years of learning, adapting, problem-solving, and showing up - even when the market was unpredictable, rates were high, and the path was far from easy.

This career allows me to serve others at moments that truly matter - first homes, growing families, fresh starts, refinances that bring relief, and long-term wealth building. It’s never “just a loan.” It’s strategy, education, trust, and advocacy.

Behind the scenes, this role requires constant market watch and ongoing education - rates, guidelines, program changes, economic shifts - so my clients can make informed decisions, not emotional ones. The learning never stops, and honestly, that’s one of the things I love most about it.

One year ago, I made the leap to the broker model and joined ASCEND Lending, and I can confidently say it’s been one of the best career decisions I’ve ever made.

Working as a broker has allowed me to:

Happy Closing Day to my client - and friend! 🏡✨

I’ve been monitoring interest rates for him since he purchased his home about a year and a half ago, and with the recent decrease, the timing was perfect for a Rate/Term Refinance to lower his monthly payment. It feels so good knowing I helped him achieve his goal - and that he trusted my advice and allowed me to guide him through the process once again means so much, especially today.

Exactly one year ago, I was let go from my previous company. I could’ve given up, but I didn’t. Today, I’m proud to say I work for myself, and I’m on track to have my best month in the past year.

Every new school year takes me right back to when I returned to work after having her. After spending all day, every day together for months, our bond grows even deeper - and the thought of being apart feels like tearing away a piece of my heart. I remember rocking her in my arms, tears streaming down my face, wondering how I could possibly spend ten hours a day away from my baby. Back then it felt impossible. Now I know we can do it… but that familiar ache still sits heavy in my chest, and my eyes keep filling with tears no matter how many times I wipe them.

This year feels even harder - she’s starting at a brand new school where she doesn’t know a single person, and we REALLY miss her old one. I can only imagine how overwhelming this is for her. Dropoff was hard. She cried. I cried. To me, it feels just like the first time we left her with a childcare provider at four months old. I’m filled with uncertainty and hopeful I made the right decision.

Through the tears this morning, Herbie and I reminded her that she is brave and strong, and that she’s got this. I pray her first day is wonderful, and that her whole year is even better than we could have dreamed. Shine bright, beautiful girl - you’ve got the whole world ahead of you ❤️

🎉 Big milestone for my clients - they’re officially Conditionally Approved!

These first-time homebuyers have been working hard over the past three months, and today we hit a huge step forward in their journey to homeownership.

🔍 So what is a Conditional Approval?
It means their loan has been reviewed by underwriting and meets the lender’s guidelines- with just a few final conditions left to satisfy (things like updated documents, insurance, or title work). Once those are complete, we’ll be Clear to Close!

Every first-time buyer deserves someone who will walk them through the process with care, clear communication, and a game plan. I’m proud to be that person for them. 🏡

When we Refinanced our house in 2020, our payment decreased by $336.40 per month just by being able to drop PMI because the loan-to-value was under 80% after Purchasing in 2015. That was some crazy high mortgage insurance!

In addition, the Principal and Interest portion of our payment was reduced by $352.58 per month, because of the lower interest rate we were able to get.

We closed on August 4, 2020, and we picked up a check from the closing attorney for just under $1,600 after the rescission period ended, so we didn’t have a mortgage payment due until October 1st. That was two months without a mortgage payment! We also received a refund check from the homeowner’s insurance company for overpayment, so that Refinance felt like the gift that kept on giving, and it’s also what got me thinking about getting back into the mortgage industry. Sure, technology had changed the way mortgage applications were completed. We used an app on our phones for a majority of the process, but the documents it takes to complete a loan package is basically the same as when every page was printed out and kept in a large file folder that we walked from department to department to get it from Data Entry to Processing, and then to Underwriting and back to Processing and back forth until the file was Clear to Close. Now each of those steps are completed electronically - thank goodness!

I have always loved serving others, helping people achieve their goals, and breaking things down in a way people can understand. Being a Primis Mortgage Loan Officer gives me the ability to do that everyday, and I know there is an amazing group of people on the Operations side who work together cohesively with those of us in Sales to ensure our clients receive the best possible service and support throughout their mortgage journey. This collaboration allows us to streamline processes, address any issues promptly, and ultimately help our clients achieve their homeownership dreams with confidence and ease.

Before I rejoined the mortgage industry, I was a Project Coordinator for a company’s Process Controls and Automation division. I was the best, and I knew it. People said it about me and to me on a regular basis. Project Managers knew when they got me as their Project Coordinator they could count on the project financials being reconciled, the bill of material being ordered on time and tracked, and constant, clear communication. And that project management mentality carries through to how I handle my loan files today. I allow my team members to handle their part of the process while always willing to step in and help when needed. Each loan file adding to my bank of lessons learned and building confidence in every happy client and each five-star review.

Ironically, this client is one of the former Project Managers I worked with, and I am proud to share what he had to say about working with me as his Loan Officer. When my friends and family ask for my help with their home financing, it just means something a little extra to me. I know it’s not easy to share your SSN, credit details and the number of dollar bills you have to your name. The lending piece of the homebuying process isn’t always the most fun part, but I will do my best to guide you through it and make it as easy as possible for you, too!
