Last night I had a FULL HOUSE for our Medicare 101 class at Deano’s Bertrand! ❤️
And 𝐘𝐄𝐒, 𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐄𝐏 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐨 𝐨𝐧! Even when I am already exhausted, stressed, and overwhelmed with AEP preparation.
Why? Because 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭! It’s not just about helping someone turning 65 understand Medicare. It’s also about helping them understand the changes happening that could affect their parents, loved ones, and even themselves.
But last night turned into something 𝐈 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝! ❤️
If you are a client of AIA or have ever attended one of my classes, you know how passionate I am about what I do! And last night, that passion came with a few tears.
I think everyone could tell I was exhausted and stressed. Several times during our discussions, I got emotional talking about the changes happening in Medicare and healthcare and how badly I want to help our community navigate them.
𝐈 ❤️ 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐨, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲!
For the past two months, I’ve been attending events, visiting community centers, educating our community, preparing our clients, and putting new tools in place at AIA so we can help as many people as possible get their 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰.
My staff and I work tirelessly, putting in long hours and sacrificing time with our families because we truly CARE about the people we serve. We are doing everything we can to get it all done! And I can tell you, I feel like AEP started 𝐓𝐖𝐎 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐇𝐒 𝐀𝐆𝐎! 😩
I can plan and prepare all I want, but sometimes 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐠𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐰!
Last night we had some wonderful discussions. People shared their experiences with family members, healthcare costs, insurance issues, and the challenges families are facing. And somewhere in those conversations, I opened up and shared some things about my own life that I haven’t talked much about publicly.
We talked about how important it is to have the right coverage because you 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐞!
Last week, my brother-in-law went to the hospital in Kaplan with chest pains. The next day, he had to be flown by helicopter to Baton Rouge for more testing because there apparently weren’t any beds available in Lafayette. He ended up needing an angioplasty after they discovered a 100% blockage in an artery!
Thank GOD he is okay! But here’s the thing… 𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝟑𝟒 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐎𝐋𝐃!
This Monday, my son is having knee surgery. And last night, I also opened up and shared a little about my own medical history and something I’ll be facing next year. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐭, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭. ❤️
We just never know what life is going to throw at us, no matter our age! And that’s exactly why I’m so passionate about helping people understand their healthcare coverage and prepare for life’s unexpected moments.
And then something happened last night that 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭!❤️
Before the presentation ended, one of the ladies spoke up and said, “𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟?” 🙏
𝐘’𝐀𝐋𝐋! 🥹❤️
Right there, in the middle of Deano’s Pizza, 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐃! 🙏
We prayed for the stress, for healing, for guidance, for strength, and for the support needed to get through this season of life.
𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞!
I went into last night’s class exhausted, overwhelmed, and feeling like there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done.
And I walked out reminded of WHY I do what I do.
𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐊𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐄𝐗𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓! 🙏❤️
Sometimes when you spend so much time trying to take care of everyone else, 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐨𝐨.
𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲! 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐨! And THIS is why AIA is so much more than just selling insurance to me.
We weren’t just talking about Medicare last night. 𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞, 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐩𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐚 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞!
To everyone who was there last night, 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭! You have no idea how much you blessed me!
And to my AIA Angels, thank you for the long hours, the dedication, and the heart you put into helping our clients every single day. 𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮!
𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐈𝐒 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃, 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐈𝐃𝐃𝐋𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐎𝐒! ❤️🙏
