Drug Free Run

Drug Free Run Sat, August 26, 2017 from 8:30am-12:00pm The Drug Free Run initially began in 1998 as the Drug Free Relay and was held on the last Saturday in September. Yes.

In 2016 the format was changed to a 1 mile, 5k and 10k run at the beautiful Mount Emily Recreation Area (MERA). The run is a fundraising activity of Union County Safe Communities Coalition. We invite you to join with us for a competitive, fun event that raises money and awareness to help keep our community drug-free. People of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.

What are the options? DFR (Drug Free Run) offers a one mile, 5K and 10 K course. We will have a professional timer for the 5k and 10k races. Walking options are also available! What is the Point? Most people enjoy testing their own limits. We strengthen our community as we come together annually to take a united stand against drug use. What happens to the funds raised? After paying for the event expenses the money is:
1. invested in community projects that advance strategies consistent with the UCSCC action plan,
2. used to fund projects/events that target changes to community norms, practices, or policies,
3. funds may also be used for UCSCC Youth Council supported prevention activities in participating local schools. Is my donation tax-deductable? The Relay is an activity of the Union County Safe Communities Coalition. Union County is the fiscal agent for the coalition. What can I sponsor? There are several levels of monetary event sponsorship. Please contact our office at [email protected] for more information.
