MEDICARE MYTH...
"I can get my Medicare coverage anytime."

Answer: That is TRUE but ONLY if you get your Medicare Card during your 65th birthday month (preferably). The catch? You have to get Part A if you delay FULL Medicare. 3 months before (the best time) your 65th birthday month, you need to request your Medicare Card with Part A printed on the card. Part A is free, and covers hospitals.

When you want FULL Medicare, request a NEW Medicare Card with Part B added. That's called "Full Medicare"....Part A, and Part B. The monthly premium for Part B is currently $185.

FACTS:
Medicare Part A: covers inpatient care in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, hospice care, and some home health services does NOT have a monthly fee.

Medicare Part B: covers medically necessary services and some preventive care, including doctor visits, outpatient care, and certain medical equipment. MONTHLY PAYMENT: $185

Did you know there are two super important blood test measurements that are critical to your health? I'll reveal ONE in this post.

1. Vitamin D with K2: Many, many people who are unhealthy have low Vitamin D levels: Normal Range: 40-100ng/mL. It is one of the most powerful supplements available, with many benefits. It is also quite inexpensive. The K2, in simplistic terms, works to draw calcium into the bones, where it belongs. Osteoporosis now becomes the enemy. Vitamin-D is non-toxic in nearly all cases.

NOTE: Your blood tests do not automatically show Vitamin-D levels. You have to request the measurement from your Primary Care Doctor.

Today's Medicare Question:
This year, you are turning 65. What is the first two steps in getting Medicare set up?

1. Better to contact a local Broker, instead of contacting an insurance company to get information. Brokers are neutral, and have a great handle on the enrollment sequence.

2. Contact your local (not national) Social Security Office to request your Red, White, and Blue Medicare card. You can't move forward without the card. Once you get the card, call your Broker back and let them know you have it. The process now becomes even easier.

TODAY'S QUESTION...
"What do I do if I am currently on my Spouse's health insurance plan?"

If you are turning 65 this year, and going on Medicare, 3 MONTHS before your 65th birthday month, call your LOCAL Social Security Office, and request your RED, WHITE, AND BLUE Medicare Card. It typically is a 4-6 week process to get your card.

In most cases, you have to have Medicare Part A, and Part B listed on your Medicare card in order to acquire a Secondary Health Plan that will coordinate with your Medicare.

As soon as you receive your Medicare Card, contact your Spouse's employer HR department to cancel your coverage EFFECTIVE on the Medicare start date.
