Carbon Craftworks Violins

Carbon Craftworks Violins Carbon Craftworks is about creating traditionally styled instruments in Carbon Fiber. No one was making a violin in a traditional shape.

I got the idea of making violins from carbon fiber when looking at a wood kit violin in a catalog. The parts seemed straight forward from a molding perspective and since I was working for a company making composite parts I thought I would give it a shot. I did a little research and found that most of what was available were violin-shaped-objects. So I took on that challenge and discovered how hard

it was to mold complex shapes that have negative draft and under-cuts. The violins that I am working on now are the result of 4 years of prototyping and a bunch of money given to me by Kickstarter.

They are doing the same thing as everyone else as far as design goes. I am surprised that I still have the only traditionally styled CF violin available.
Haven't been making much these days, but still have some inventory from last year on eBay.

Well, after months and months(years really) I finally have a prototype violin that sounds like a wood violin.
There's so much complexity to the sound of a violin that I am not surprised that it took so long to figure out.
What is coming for the future is a new breed of carbon fiber violin that has the sound and dynamic range of a well made wood violin.
I will be working to get more capital to invest in this new direction as some design changes need to be made, and they are expensive.
