Found this interesting chart of Mortgage Rates from 1980-Current 46 years.
Some things that stood out to me:
🏡Highest Average Rates were in the early 80's peaking at 18.2%
🏡Lowest Average Rates 2020-2.80%
🏡1980-2009- 29 years straight of rates at or above 5%
🏡March 2009-March 2022- 13 years straight at or below 5%
🏡 Currently - April 2022 to current at or above 5%

Moral of the story for those in the market. We are in year 4 of rates back above 5% after 13 years of under 5%. Out of 46 years of tracking rates 33 years have been above 5%.

That is 72% of the time tracked rates were above 5%. Are you trying to wait it out or time the market for rates to come back below 5% before you buy, sell or refinance?
