It’s Monday Medicare Minute! 🕒

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period begins October 15—but that does not mean you need to make a decision today.

September is the time to get organized:

* Keep your Annual Notice of Change when it arrives
* Update your prescription list
* Write down your doctors and specialists
* Confirm your preferred pharmacy
* Make a list of questions or changes since last year

A good Medicare review starts with good information.

And remember: an annual review does not automatically mean changing plans. Sometimes the best outcome is confirming that your current coverage still fits.

Review first. Change only when the facts support it.

If you would like to reserve time for your annual review, send me a message.

It’s Monday Medicare Minute! 🕒

I brought a little color into the office today with flowers I grew at home and brought in to share in our lobby. Sometimes a few simple preparations can make the week—and Medicare—feel a little less overwhelming.

Medicare Open Enrollment doesn’t begin until October 15, but a good annual review starts before then.

If you have a Medicare Advantage or prescription drug plan, watch your mail in September for your Annual Notice of Change, often called the ANOC. This notice explains what your current plan expects to change for 2027, including:

• Monthly premiums and medical costs
• Prescription drug coverage
• Pharmacy and provider networks
• Benefits and coverage rules

You don’t need to make a decision today. For now, keep the notice when it arrives and begin updating your medication list, preferred pharmacy, and doctors.

Just like planting flowers before you get to enjoy the blooms, a little preparation now can make your annual Medicare review much easier—and much less stressful—when plan comparisons become available.

I’ll continue sharing simple Medicare reminders throughout the fall so Michigan and Wisconsin clients know what to expect, what matters, and when action may be needed.

A little behind-the-scenes look at what happens before Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period begins…

Each year, Medicare agents must complete recertification—which means hours of training and testing on Medicare rules, plan types, enrollment periods, compliance requirements, fraud prevention and more. After that, we complete additional certifications and testing for each insurance carrier we represent.

It’s a lot of information, but it matters. Medicare changes every year, and staying current helps me provide accurate guidance when people are making important healthcare decisions.

So today, I’m working through my 2027 certifications while my little study buddy sleeps on my toes. She’s providing moral support—but contributing very little to the actual testing. 😂🐾

This is part of the work you may not see, but it’s one of the ways I prepare to serve my clients well all year long.

Your Medicare Supplement premium went up. Does that mean you’re stuck with it? 👀

Not necessarily.

One Medicare misconception I hear is that you can only review your Supplement during the fall Annual Enrollment Period.

That is actually incorrect! Medicare Supplements don’t work that way. You can generally apply for a different Medicare Supplement carrier at any time of year.

The catch? Depending on your situation, you may have to answer health questions and qualify medically.

So if your premium has gotten uncomfortable, you don’t necessarily have to wait until fall to ask about your options.

Sometimes the answer is, “Your current plan still makes sense.” Sometimes it’s worth making a change. Either way, asking costs nothing!!

If you are curious, please let me know...always happy to answer a question. :)

💡 Did you know?

You do not have to wait for Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period to explore a different Medicare Supplement, also called Medigap.

If you are no longer comfortable with your current premium, you may apply to switch carriers at any time of the year. Depending on your circumstances, medical underwriting may be required, so approval is not always guaranteed—but it may still be worth reviewing your options.

The tractor was in the way while I was mowing today.

I’ve never driven it. I’ve never even started it.

So I asked my husband for one piece of advice before giving it a try.

His response: “Just remember to start it in neutral.”

Challenge accepted. 😅

Turns out you can take the girl off the farm… but you can’t take the farm out of the girl. 🚜❤️

My morning started with a little some quality time getting to know Copilot. As part of the process, it reviewed the emails in my Sent folder and shared the following feedback about my communication style...

"Frankly, your voice is one of your strongest professional assets. Clients don't just get answers from you—they feel like someone is helping them carry the load. That's something worth preserving in every template we create. "😊

I have to admit, receiving such positive feedback from AI was a pretty encouraging way to start the day!! Minus the tan line!

📍Let's share a little wisdom today!

What's the best advice you've ever received?

It could be about anything....friendships, relationships, life, family, health, money, retirement, or something simple that's stuck with you over the years.

I'll start:

My boss used to say that "perceptions are reality"....thanks, Rob!
However, I've expanded on it since this has stuck with me over the years.

Here is my version...

"Even when you know you are correct; another person’s perception is reality—even when it does not align with all the facts. That is why open communication is essential before either side reaches a conclusion or makes a decision." -Rebecca Holm
