Lesson learned from one of my clients 🚨

She had a collection account she wanted to pay off. I told her BEFORE paying, make sure she got a pay for deletion letter first. Unfortunately, she forgot and went ahead and paid the debt because the attorney told her once she sent the dismissal paperwork to the credit bureaus, the collection would be removed from her credit report.

Now suddenly they’re saying it’s “against the law” to remove it and it’s only going to update as a paid collection… exactly what I warned her about.

This is why I always tell y’all: NEVER just take their word for it over the phone. Get everything in writing FIRST. Once that payment is sent, your leverage is gone.

A paid collection is better than unpaid, but it still can affect your credit profile. Now we have to continue through the dispute process and see if we can still get it removed.

Always ask for a pay for deletion BEFORE paying a collection because some companies will tell you anything just to collect that payment.

Most people think a repossession is the end of the road for their credit.

It’s not.

I’ve seen people go from denied to approved after finally addressing the repo reporting on their credit report the right way.

Every situation is different, but one thing I need y’all to understand is this:

Just because an account is reporting… doesn’t automatically mean it’s reporting correctly.

That’s why learning the process matters.

Because strategy will always beat random disputes.

And yes… repossessions can sometimes be removed too. 👀

I used to look at results like this and think everybody had to be scamming, using fraud, or doing something illegal…

until I started actually learning consumer laws, reporting standards, dispute strategies, and how credit reporting really works.

A lot of people don’t realize that sometimes accounts are:
• reported inaccurately
• duplicated
• incomplete
• outdated
• or not properly verified

And when you learn how to review reports correctly, your whole perspective changes.

That’s exactly why I created my DIY Disputing Academy.

Not to promise deletions.
Not to sell fantasies.
But to teach people how to understand the process, build strategy, and dispute smarter.
