Are you a Covered California member? Don’t forget to update your account! If you've recently lost your job, be sure to update your income and include unemployment benefits as it may have an impact on the cost of your coverage.
Also, if you have no coverage, there is a special COVID enrollment period until the end of this month.

Blue Shield of California is taking additional steps to remove barriers and help its members receive the health care they need during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, announcing today it will cover members’ coinsurance, copayments and deductibles for COVID-19 medical treatments through May 31, 2020.

Covered California Individual Exchange Expands Special Enrollment and Medi-Cal Seeks Waivers to Encourage Coverage

Covered California for Small Business (CCSB) is actively monitoring the evolving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation and are working on your behalf to ensure quality care and resources. As part of this effort, we are communicating an update from the Covered California Individual Exchange regarding their special enrollment period extension.

In a press release today, Covered California has announced an expanded special enrollment for its Individual Exchange. Effective immediately, anyone uninsured and eligible to enroll in health care coverage through Covered California can sign up through the end of June.

Additionally, all medically necessary screening and testing for COVID-19 will be free of charge, and all health plans available through Medi-Cal and Covered California offer telehealth options.

As the state of California is taking action on many fronts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, Covered California and the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) joined together to make sure that those losing employment would have a ready path to coverage.

Watch out for Medicare fraud.

Scammers may use COVID-19 as an opportunity to steal your identity and commit Medicare fraud. In some cases, they might tell you they'll send you a Coronavirus test, masks, or other items in exchange for your Medicare number or personal information. Be wary of unsolicited requests for your Medicare number or other personal information.
It's important to always guard your Medicare card like a credit card and check your Medicare claims summary forms for errors. Only give your Medicare number to participating Medicare pharmacists, primary and specialty care doctors or people you trust to work with Medicare on your behalf. Remember, Medicare will never call you to ask for or check your Medicare number.

Here's some news I'd like to share. Today was my last day, after 32 years, of being an agent for Farmers Insurance. Now begins my new adventure as a totally Independent Agent. Now I am free to seek out the best insurance buys for my friends, family, and clients. While I can't take your Farmers policies for a year, there are many of you out there that I could never serve due to strict underwriting requirements and high costs. Tomorrow that all changes.

It has always been my greatest pleasure to make friends with my customers and do the best that I could to protect their property, family, business, life and health. Tomorrow I will have a greater opportunity to make that happen. The last 32 years have given me the experience to make that happen.

My phone number is still 805-373-6080, but my office location of the last 6 years will be closed by the end of the month. I now have the luxury of working from home, on my own terms, and any and all hours necessary to serve my customers.

Why not retire you say? Because I enjoy what I do and feel that I still have a lot of good years to give. I do look forward to working with many of my past clients and making many new friends. Don't hesitate to give me a call when you want to see if you can do better with your insurance. You know that I will give you a very honest answer, one that is in YOUR best interest.

Now that so many of us are home-bound, the next few weeks are a great time to do the mundane, boring things we all dislike--review insurance policies and finish taxes. I'll be anxious to hear from you. Just give me a few days to get my home office organized!! Then it's full speed ahead!!
