It was 8 years ago that I got the idea to start my shop, and at that time, I was an unemployed social worker who just had a baby. I used to spend a lot of my time crafting and card-making. When I started collecting pins, I noticed there weren't pins for card makers, so I started creating them, and that's where I started.
Eventually, that evolved to the things that interested me and what I found beautiful. I started to add flowers and quotes that were uplifting or helpful for me, especially in my journey, because I was someone who cared a lot about mental health, and words were one way for me to help myself.
Btw, I didn't know anything about flowers, so I created things as a way to learn about them as well. I can find a lot of things beautiful, but I don't usually understand them or have the words for them. I can pick up on the details, the colors, and the symbolism intuitively.
It's been a really, really beautiful journey for me to learn about things, to learn about all the different kinds of flowers and what each color represents:
- Yellow is usually for friendship.
- Pink is for love.
- Red is for deeper devotion.
As I expanded, my collections expanded as well because they grew while I was growing. As I was learning about things, as my interests changed, and as the things I found beautiful held more meaning in my life, I added:
- Owls
- Birds
- Butterflies
- Moths
- Especially interactive pins
- Unique pins
- Different pins
- Stickers, eventually, because it was just another way for people to be able to add beauty to their everyday life if they weren't someone that wore pins or used pins.
In 8 years, I've had two daughters. I've changed a lot, I've grown a lot, and I've learned a lot. This shop has evolved a lot as well. I'm so glad that I started. I can't wait to see where this shop takes me, because I know I'm in the middle of a huge change. Sometimes that just requires more faith than fear in order to keep going.
