Planning = Freedom to Live Life on Your Terms

Life doesn’t unfold one priority at a time. Careers evolve, businesses grow, families expand, and new responsibilities emerge, often all at once.

After more than 20 years in financial planning, Wealth Coast Partner Tim Mulroy has found that the most successful individuals—especially business owners and driven professionals—aren’t just reacting to what’s next. They’re intentional about building a plan that gives them flexibility and control.

According to Northwestern Mutual’s latest Personal Prosperity Index, 71% of Americans who work with a financial advisor say they feel financially secure. Without a financial advisor, only 38% of Americans feel the same.

For many of the people we work with, that sense of security comes from clarity. It’s understanding how decisions in your business impact your personal goals, how today’s success translates into long-term freedom, and how to align every moving piece into a cohesive strategy.
Financial planning, at its best, isn’t just about numbers. It’s about creating the ability to spend your life doing what you want, when you want, with the people who matter most.

What’s one financial priority you’re focused on right now?

Life insurance medical exams are a key part of evaluating health risks and determining the appropriate coverage for clients.

Wealth Coast partner and private wealth advisor, Timothy Mulroy - Northwestern Mutual, recently shared insights with Wall Street Journal Buy Side on what these exams entail - from blood pressure checks to reviewing complex medical histories - and why they are so important in the underwriting process. We also discussed no-exam options, such as accelerated or simplified underwriting, which can provide flexibility while still offering meaningful protection.
