Good afternoon! With weather reports predicting record low temperatures, we wanted to send a quick note how to prevent frozen pipes. 🌬🌬🌬
Always keep heat on even when your are away from home.
If your kitchen or bathroom sinks are in exterior walls, open cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate.
Turn a faucet on using both hot and cold water allowing a drip or trickle of water. This will prevent main water lines from freezing, that may be located in exposed areas. Most
pipes freeze overnight when temps drop and there is a lack of water use.
Garages that have water heaters located in them usually also have a main water line. Allow warm air from home or small space heater to safely run in garage to keep main pipes from freezing.
If you experience a frozen pipe, locate main water shut off and shut off the water supply, and then call for assistance. Main water valve is usually around water heater or located in garage.
Frozen pipes may lead to broken pipes that will result in water damage to the home or your personal property. 💦🌊
Thanks for helping us be proactive this winter. Using the above tips will drastically reduce the risk of having a frozen pipe.
