We had a great evening at the Arab Chamber Banquet, hosted at the beautiful Old Greenhouse, such a wonderful venue for celebrating our community.

Please join us in congratulating Kelly Waldrop, the 2026 recipient of the Spirit of Citizens Award. The award was presented at the Citizens Bank & Trust Annual Employee Meeting earlier this month.

This award is given in memory of Robin Ponder and honors someone who reflects her kindness, servant heart, can-do attitude, and someone who shows up for others with positivity, dependability, and genuine compassion.

Those who nominated Kelly described her as “a ray of sunshine every time she enters the building,” someone who listens closely, makes people feel welcome, and has a way of turning even ordinary moments into something meaningful.

They shared how she “always has a smile on her face” and goes out of her way to welcome others, offering help before it’s asked for, making connections, and creating an environment where people feel comfortable and important.

The Spirit of Citizens Award is about more than what someone does, it’s about how they make people feel. In that way, Kelly reflects the legacy of Robin Ponder so well: steady, uplifting, and always putting others first.

We’re always proud to host the board meetings for the Child Advocacy Center of Marshall County in our Guntersville boardroom, and the March board meeting visit was a special one. 🐾

This behind-the-scenes moment shows Toto, the CAC’s newest facility dog, resting beside his "boss", Courtney, during the meeting. While it may be a candid photo, it reflects the calm, comfort, and support Toto provides to children during some of their most difficult moments.

Facility dogs like Toto are highly trained, full-time members of the CAC team, helping children in interviews, therapy sessions, and even in court.

We’re proud to support the CAC and grateful for the incredible and important work they do across Marshall County. We hear Toto may soon make his courtroom debut, continuing his important role supporting children when they need it most.

Last Thursday, Citizens Bank & Trust was proud to attend the Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet at Driftwood, the event center at City Harbor.

Beautiful venue, memorable program, and of course a great time seeing friends old and new. We also enjoyed an incredible meal catered by our friends at Gunter’s Landing Golf Club!

Please join us in congratulating Kristi Woodham, the 2026 Citizens Heisman recipient! 🏆

Kristi was recognized at our Annual Employee Meeting on March 3, surrounded by her Citizens Bank & Trust family and her own family, a moment that made the honor even more meaningful.

A decades long career in banking, she has spent the last 15 years with us at Citizens, and we're better off for it. Since joining Citizens in 2011, Kristi has served her coworkers and our bank with dedication and humility. In her role in Deposit Operations, she’s known as someone people can always count on, the person who will answer the phone, help solve a problem, or take the time to make sure a coworker finds the right answer.

Those who nominated Kristi shared just how much she means to the people she works with. One nomination described her as someone who is “always willing to help those in and out of her department… a friend to all and a good listener.”

Another said “her calm presence creates a sense of confidence and trust among her coworkers… though quiet in nature, she is an unwavering force when help is needed.” Kristi lives out the values that guide our bank every day, doing the right thing, helping others succeed, and always putting people first. She’s the kind of person who doesn’t look for recognition but earns it through the way she shows up for others.

We’re committed to building strong leaders at Citizens Bank & Trust through our leadership development program, Citizens Leadership Initiative, launched earlier this year.

Today’s session featured Dr. Bart Reeves, Superintendent of Albertville City Schools, who led an outstanding discussion on Communication, Feedback, and Coaching. His message centered on the idea that communication plays a direct role in shaping an organization’s culture and climate.

Dr. Reeves emphasized that everything a leader does communicates something. The way we speak to our teams, give feedback, listen, and respond to challenges all contribute to the environment people experience every day. In other words, every interaction is either adding to the culture we want to build or taking away from it.

“Effective communication is vital to any organization, and actually can make or break an organization. Effective communication improves culture and climate.” - Dr. Reeves

He also left us with a powerful reminder that applies to leadership and personal growth alike:
“Every day is a job interview.”

We’re grateful to Dr. Reeves for investing in our team and helping us continue developing leaders who are committed to strengthening our culture and serving our customers and communities well.

We were proud to attend the United Way of Marshall County Campaign Celebration and celebrate the impact this organization and its partner agencies make everyday.

This is possible because of the generous people across the county who donate to this great cause. The total raised has exceeded $780,000, the largest ever in the history of this annual campaign.

Featured in tbis photo are the the Loaned Executives who helped lead this year’s campaign, including our own Carly Stokes, CSR at our Guntersville office (second from the left). We’re grateful for Carly’s time, dedication, and heart for serving.

At Citizens Bank & Trust, supporting the communities we serve is who we are. Our team once again achieved 100% employee participation in the United Way campaign, something we’ve proudly accomplished every year since our bank opened in 2003.
