100 years ago today, State Farm Insurance was founded in rural Illinois. Only .5% of companies in the United States have been around that long. Less than 1000. The company became the #1 insurer of cars in 1942 and the #1 insurer of homes in 1964. We remain the leader today. We are currently #42 on the Fortune 500 list of the largest US corporations.

How did we do it? The same way now as we did back then, through 19,000 State Farm agents throughout the United States. Men and women in your communities protecting people and their families. Neighbors that attend church with you, coach your kids at little league, serve on the PTA, are band parents and contribute to local charities. They shop locally like you and support the communities where you live.

I am proud to have served 28 years of the 100 years celebrated. Proud that my Dad served 42 years before he passed away.
