I don't want to talk about the right now. Been a rough stretch, but there is a topic from a few weeks ago that I want to discuss. So... the Home Run Derby. What the heck even is it? Like, how do they decide who participates? Jazz Chisholm? For real??? Dude hit 3 home runs in the derby. Why was he there? He hit several home runs during the first few weeks of the season because of torpedo bats. So what!? Dude ain't a home run hitter and it showed. Would Cal Raleigh have won regardless? Probably, he's doing quite well. So here's what I think. If each team gets to send a player to the All-Star game no matter what, I think that should be the case for the HR derby. Give each player 5 Home Runs within a 5 minute period and take the longest distances of each of the 5 best HRs and add them together, and there's your score. Top 4 go to next round. Then do seeding based off of the results and another round of the same. Then do a final round. Guess what? Now each fanbase has a reason to watch the Derby.
