In preparation for the 2012 Hurricane Season, we take this annual opportunity to remind everyone of the automatic restriction to binding coverage when a Named Storm or Hurricane threatens the Gulf. When a Named and Designated Storm either forms in or crosses into the boundaries of 80 degrees West Longitude and 20 degrees North Latitude, many carriers enforce the following restrictions for all property located in the specified coastal territories. (Don't wait until it is too late to pick up the appropriate coverage - I'm happy to review your coverage for you at no charge):
1. These restrictions apply to all property located in Territories 1, 8, 9, 10 and 11 (1st and 2nd Tier Counties). Notification of additional restricted areas may be issued as the strength and path of the storm becomes more defined.
2. No new risks may be bound.
3. No increase to the amount of insurance on an existing risk may be made.
4. No additional coverage to an existing risk may be added.
5. These restrictions remain in force until the storm passes and for 24 hours after the storm watch or warning has been lifted.

Friends and Family - You Insurance is important. You are likely receiving your renewal notices in the mail and seeing significant increases in your premiums. If your premiums are not increasing, read your policy documents carefully! Even homeowners that renew every year may find new limits buried in their policies. The Consumer Federation report said insurance companies have "sharply hollowed out the catastrophe coverage offered to consumers" by raising deductibles, capping replacement costs, and -- significant for folks in the path of tornadoes and hurricanes -- removing coverage for wind damage if another non-covered event (usually a flood) also occurs. If you would like me to review your coverage at no charge feel free to call me or email me: [email protected] or 281-485-8500.

Budget Insurance Agency of Texas, Inc was founded in 2009. With few choices available to the General Contractor in choosing an Insurance Agency that provides secure value packed, cost competitive coverage, BIA has chosen to be an agency that specializes in Commercial Lines insurance, specifically those markets catering to Residential and Commercial Construction.

The company was founded on the belief that BIA could provide to their customers products, markets, and unparalleled service that would give the client the same valued coverage they are accustomed too, along with providing a cost savings.

BIA has appointments with many general agents that present us with the opportunity to write policies with some of the top rated carriers in the business, such as; Builders Insurance Group which caters their entire line of products to the General Contractor, along with Lloyd's of London, Mid-Continent and Zurich American just to name a few.

As a Trusted Choice Agent we have a commitment to our clientele which is focused on exceeding your expectations through excellence in performance, service and professionalism. We listen to our customers and deliver innovative solutions and extraordinary service.

Great Article from the November issue of Independent Agent magazine: Model Mayhem - I think everyone should read it and get a better understanding of how insurance rating works. This is my way of informing my valuable customers that although you may see rates increasing, I'm still advocating for you as an Independent Agent!

Catastrophe modeler Risk Management Solutions surprised the industry last February with the release of Version 11 of its Atlantic Hurricane Model. Unlike RMS’s previous versions—and the models of other data crunchers like AIR and Eqecat—Version 11 posited a greater likelihood of a hurricane causing ...

Good Morning Everyone! Attached is a very insightful article as to why your insurance rates increase even when, personally, you don't have an insurance loss. Be nice to your agent when they tell you about a rate hike, it's essentially not your agents doing ;-)

As a new year begins after a catastrophe-plagued 2011, insurers are justifiably nervous. Numerous media reports cite difficult January reinsurance renewals as 2011 was a truly scary year.

Insurance Matters
Auto Insurance Made Easy

(NAPS)—Understanding insurance can often be like trying to learn a foreign language. Many find it confusing and intimidating.

Fortunately, there’s help. Here is a quick reference designed to help you understand some of the most common kinds of coverages. The reference was put together by The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies.

Liability covers bodily injury and property damage (BI/PD). This covers your legal liability, up to the dollar limits you select, for damages caused to others in a covered vehicle accident. In most states today, liability insurance is mandatory.

Under BI/PD, your insurance company pays for damages to an injured person and for property damage that you are legally obligated to pay as a result of an accident. If your policy covers you in the event you’re sued after an accident, your insurance company will pay for a lawyer to defend you.

Liability limits generally appear as three numbers, for example, 25/50/25 or 100/300/100. The first number refers to the maximum amount, in thousands, that your insurance company is obligated to pay for bodily injury per person. The second number is the maxi-mum that would be paid out for bodily injury per claim and the third number represents the maxi-mum amount your insurance company is obligated to pay for property damage you cause.

Collision. When you buy collision coverage, your insurance company pays for damages if your vehicle collides with another vehicle or object. Collision coverage involves a deductible amount you select when you purchase your policy. This amount is what you are required to pay before your insurance company starts picking up the tab. Remember, the deductible amount is the amount you need to pay in the event of a claim.

Comprehensive covers damage caused by events other than a car collision—such as fire, theft, vandalism, hail or flood. It also covers damage caused by your vehicle colliding with an animal. And if your car is stolen, it will cover the cost of a rental, subject to a daily limit. Like collision coverage, a deductible usually applies.
Medical Coverage. Depending on the state in which you live, you may have available to you Medical Payments coverage or Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage. While these both work differently, they provide coverage for medical care provided to you as a result of a car accident.

As an independent insurance agent we can help you determine the price, coverage and service that best meets your needs. Call one of our knowledgeable agents today with your questions! 281-485-8500
