Super pumped we got to announce today that we will be having the one and only Ed Mylett as our keynote speaker at this years 2026 National Conference in Denver, CO. Here's a taste of his insight. So pumped!
Most people think mastery feels natural from the beginning. It doesn’t. Ed Mylett says mastery moves through three stages:
1. Awkward
2. Mechanical
3. Natural
And almost nobody talks about the brutal middle. The awkward stage is where:
* You feel fake.
* You overthink everything.
* You’re painfully aware of your mistakes.
* Your confidence doesn’t match your vision.
So people quit.
But awkwardness is not evidence you *can’t* do it.
It’s evidence you’re doing something NEW.
Then comes mechanical:
* You can do it…
* But it still feels forced.
* Scripted.
* Conscious.
* Clunky.
This is where discipline matters most.
Because repetition is wiring identity beneath awareness.
Eventually… what once felt impossible becomes part of who you are. That’s the natural stage.
The best communicators.
The best leaders.
The best parents.
The best coaches.
The best salespeople.
They weren’t born “natural.”
They just stayed in the process long enough.
🔥 AWhat feels awkward today may become instinct tomorrow—if you don’t quit in the middle.**
Practical takeaway:
* Stop judging yourself too early.
* Don’t confuse discomfort with incapability.
* Count reps, not emotions.
* Stay in the pocket long enough for identity to catch up with intention.
Mastery is usually just awkwardness… survived.
