Happy Labor Day Everyone!

TURNING 65 is a milestone in many ways, including becoming eligible for Medicare. It is important to sign up for Medicare coverage during your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP):
3 months before your birth month
During your birth month
And 3 months after (Not if you're on a credible group plan!)
You’ll pay Late Enrollment Penalties on Part B & Part D which are not one-time late fees for as long as you have Medicare coverage.

Part B late enrollment penalty: You’ll pay an extra 10% for each year you could have signed up for Part B but didn’t. The cost will be 10% per year PLUS your Part B monthly premium.

Part D late enrollment penalty: You’ll pay an extra 1% for each month, (that’s 12% a year), if you don’t join a Medicare drug plan when you first get Medicare or go 63 days or more without creditable drug coverage (like through a credible group plan.)

So, reach out to me to schedule a free appointment to review your options for managing your Medicare (Medigap or Part C Advantage) and Part D coverages and AVOID these penalties!

Sincerely,
Susan

44 days till AEP If you have Advantage or Part D coverage, be sure to keep an eye on your mailbox in September. You’ll receive an Annual Notice of Change letter from your carrier during this time. This letter can help you decide if you want to switch plans for the upcoming year. The first step to a successful AEP is to determine if your current coverage meets your needs and wants for the near future. Contact me to schedule a review your current medical and part D plans!

The Annual Enrollment Period begins October 15, 2023. Many carriers will be raising rates. So, before you re-enroll or switch plans, schedule time with me to review your health needs and goals. Then we can compare those health goals with your current policy and shop 2024 plans across most carriers after October 1st.

Next, compare plans carefully before enrolling in 2024 plans. Not all Advantage plans are the same. They may have different costs, networks, and coverage options. We can compare details of the plans you like and see how they fit your needs and budget. Some plans may offer dental, vision transportation benefits, or require pre-authorization, while others may not. I will help you understand what you are signing up for and what you are paying for before you enroll.

Fierce Healthcare reports that most Part C (Advantage plan) beneficiaries are satisfied with their health plan, but many feel they are overbilled, struggle to navigate the prior authorization process or confused by the features of their plan.

Plan members had at least on of these issues regarding their plan:
Understanding dental coverage, Out-of-pocket cost, Transportation to med appointments, Home health services, Vision & dental and caregiver support services.

Best Tip:
Review your plan documents and statements regularly. Whither you enroll in a Medigap (Supplement) or a Part C (Advantage) plan, you should receive a summary of benefits, an evidence of coverage, and a provider directory. These documents explain your rights and responsibilities as a plan member, as well as the services and costs covered by your plan. You should also receive monthly statements that show your claims and out-of-pocket expenses. You should check these documents and statements for accuracy and report any errors or discrepancies to your plan.

Having an agent who cares for your needs and helps you navigate these processes are what I am about. Schedule your appointment today to review your current policy!

Most Medicare Advantage (MA) beneficiaries are satisfied with their health plan, but many enrollees feel they are overbilled, have struggled navigating the prior authorization process or are confus | Despite nearly three-quarter of respondents in a new survey saying they are satisfied with their MA....

Over the last 12 years working in Acute Dialysis, and Post Acute Care Services, I’ve helped patients navigate the frustrating world of Medicare. Their experiences as they transition from hospital to home-based services have given me a “patients-perspective.” This perspective has motivated me to deepen my knowledge and become a resource to you, my fellow Texan's, as you navigate Medicare to make the best possible decisions about your health, and healthcare. I believe that better-informed decisions lead to healthier outcomes, and safer independent living in the place you call home.
So, call me to schedule an appointment by phone, in person or Zoom.

There’s never a charge or fee associated with my services and you will not be billed more by the insurance carrier for your plan when you use a personal insurance broker (Like ME!)
