What are you thankful for today?
It’s the dash in the middle that counts!I’m sharing this beautiful expression from a daughter for her dad.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Expressing my grief with gratitude has long been a challenge for me. That challenge often results in my being quiet since I am not sure how or what to say. I’m finding that expression isn’t a paint by number. It is a variety of color, textures and depth. And that is okay.
Today, 18 years after my dad left this earth, I’m thinking about the dash. Sure today is special, and I do love that he passed around Thanksgiving. But, the hole that I experience is because of how he lived in the dash - that little place in time and space between birth and death.
It’s the in-between that counts. That’s where the memories happen. That’s where truths are found. That’s where goodness and mercy overtake us. That’s where we press on.
•
So, that’s what I’m trying to do - in the dash, pressing on. Seeing I’m surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, I will lay aside every weight and sin that clings so closely, I will run with endurance the race that is set before me. Hebrews 12:1
I love my dad. A.S. “Skippy” Daigle was one of the finest. I am honored to have been his child. 🤍
