What You Need to Know About Hail Damage to Home Siding

Hail can do serious damage to your home's siding, and what starts as a visible dent or crack can quickly turn into a much bigger problem. Once siding is compromised, moisture works its way in, leading to water infiltration, mold growth, and structural deterioration.

What repairs typically cost:
- Minor damage (patching, painting): $200 to $600
- Moderate damage (section replacement): $1,000 to $3,000
- Severe or widespread damage: $5,000 to $10,000+
- High-end or custom siding: $15,000+

Insurance coverage: Hail damage falls under the hail peril in most standard homeowners policies. Keep in mind that many policies carry a separate wind/hail deductible, and pre-existing neglect can result in a denied claim.
