I’ve been away from this page for a bit. In the mean time, I’ve had a major health scare with blood clots in my lungs. Thankfully the doctors got that issue fixed!

Another bit of news, I am repping Excelsior Higher Care now. They have group health plans that has $0 Dr visits, specialists, labs, and imaging as well as a $0 deductible option. Crazy, huh? And best of all, the premiums are less than what you are paying for your high deductible plans!

Do you have a high deductible health plan? Many companies have raised the deductibles on their plan offering to keep premium costs down. This is all and good until you have a serious medical situation and have to pay that big up front deductible charge of $5k or more plus your copay amount. This can severely cripple a family financially.

The answer may just be in the form of a GAP plan. A gap plan is designed to pay that big up front deductible charge.

Are you offered Gap insurance where you work?

Gap insurance will pay all or part of your deductible if you are hospitalized, have out patient surgery, get an MRI, etc..

The strategy with gap is to raise your deductible and supplement the plan with gap. It is much more cost effective to buy gap than to buy a low deductible plan.
