Had the honor of meeting with the Heads of International & Study Abroad Student programs as well as Domestic Student Finance yesterday to formulate a Financial Literacy Workshop Series to further prepare the students of Lamar University for financial success. Understanding how to protect and grow your wealth is as important as the degree they worked so hard to receive. We will begin our Series in September with Understanding Identity Theft & Learning to Budget. Developing good habits early can mitigate some unnecessary financial stress later. I'm am so honored to be asked to be a part of this multi event program to further educate these young men and women.

Another Great turnout for Financial Literacy! LESLY GARCIA and I hosted 32 Women today at The Bridge Over Troubled Waters in a Financial Literacy Workshop. This weekly series has been amazing. Do you know what a skimmer is? A skimmer is a device a fraudster uses to steal your card info and PIN. Typically placed directly over the existing card reader gathering information then removed by the fraudsters to be downloaded and used illegally.
Before placing your card into a reader at an ATM or gas pump grab the reader and give it a small tug or shake to see if it pops off. If it comes off please take that device to your nearest authorities. Let's protect ourselves from the criminals
