You might look at this photo and think these kiddos are a bunch of goofy goobers.

Well, you’d be right.

But they’re also children with their entire lives ahead of them.

One day they’ll learn to drive. They’ll graduate. They’ll chase dreams, start careers, maybe build families of their own. And before we know it, these little breakfast-table moments become memories.

As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and loved ones, we can’t predict exactly what their future will look like. But we can help prepare them for it.

That’s why I believe 529 plans are one of the most overlooked opportunities available to families today.

Imagine giving a child years, even decades, of potential tax-advantaged growth toward future education expenses. Whether they choose college, trade school, vocational training, or other qualifying educational paths, a 529 can help create options when the time comes.

The reality is that most people don’t regret saving for a child’s future.

They regret waiting.

Even modest contributions made consistently over time can add up in ways that surprise people. The earlier you start, the more time your money has to work for them.

These two may be focused on pancakes and making each other laugh right now. But one day they’ll be making decisions that shape the rest of their lives.

A 529 is one way to help make sure finances don’t stand in the way of opportunity.

Because childhood goes by fast. Planning ahead doesn’t have to.

Now, back to the goofy shenanigan’s! 🤪

After beginning the year with markets pricing in multiple rate cuts, a sharply accelerating labor market and energy-driven inflation have meaningfully shifted the outlook toward potential policy tightening — creating a more complex backdrop for equities and fixed income alike. If your employer offers a 401(k) match, take it.

It’s one of the few times in life someone literally gives you free money for investing in your future.

But don’t stop there.

Most people spend years focusing on how much they can save.

Very few spend time thinking about how their money will be taxed later.

That’s where an IRA can become a powerful second piece of the puzzle.

A Traditional IRA may provide an additional tax deduction today, potentially helping reduce your taxable income while you save for retirement.

A Roth IRA doesn’t offer a deduction today, but qualified withdrawals in retirement can be tax-free.

So which one is better?

The wrong question.

The better question is:

“Do I want tax benefits now, tax benefits later, or a combination of both?”

Because retirement isn’t just about building wealth.

It’s about building flexibility.

Having money in different types of accounts can give you more choices when it comes time to create retirement income.

The people who think ahead don’t just prepare for retirement.

They prepare for taxes, too.

Don’t just ask:

“How much can I save?”

Ask:

“How much of it will I get to keep?” 📈🔥

**Traditional IRA deductibility, Roth IRA eligibility, and tax treatment are subject to IRS rules, income limits, and holding-period requirements. Everyone’s situation is different. If you’d like to understand which option may be right for you, let’s talk through the details.**
