Factory-built homes are going up on once vacant lots in KCK's Klamm Park neighborhood.
The homes are CrossMod homes, built off site by Clayton and set on permanent foundations. The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas is working with HUD, local developer Fran Sutton Homes and Clayton on the project, which Clayton says is part of a broader UG effort to turn bank-owned vacant land into new housing.
The design:
🏠 Clayton's single section CrossMod home, the Cypress floor plan
📐 990 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms
🛣️ Front-loaded layout built for narrow city lots
💵 Clayton says single section CrossMod homes are expected to run around $200,000 in most markets, including land
🏦 Eligible for conventional financing through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac programs, per Clayton
Clayton first showed the Cypress on the National Mall at HUD's Innovative Housing Showcase in September 2025. The first CrossMod homes in Klamm Park were unveiled with a ribbon cutting in March 2026.
