Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C)

To qualify for a Medicare Part C plan, you’ll need to be enrolled in both Medicare parts A & B. Medicare Advantage plans are offered through private insurance companies & administer your original Medicare benefits.
They typically provide more coverage than original Medicare and can offer extra coverage such as fitness, vision, dental, and drug benefits. These plans also have a “maximum out of pocket” which limits your financial risk.

There are many reasons to look at other Medicare Insurance plan options during AEP.

Are you unhappy with your current Medicare Advantage or Medicare Drug plan? Has your health or financial situation changed significantly this past year? Are you taking a new medication? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, I would be happy to review your current plan & go over your Medicare plan options. Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is your chance to make changes to your current Medicare health and drug coverage. It begins Friday, October 15 and ends on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Any changes that you make during this period will take effect January 1, 2022.

Your initial window to enroll is the seven-month period that begins three months before the month of your 65th birthday and ends three months after it. It is recommended to generally sign up on time to avoid penalties that could be quite costly over the course of retirement.

If you are drawing from your Social Security benefits before you turn 65 then you will automatically be enrolled into Medicare by Social Security when you turn 65. You should receive your Medicare insurance card three months before the month you turn 65.

If you are not already drawing from your Social Security benefits then you will need to manually apply for Medicare. You can apply online, over the phone, or in person at your local Social Security office. When applying online, you'll need to create a "my Social Security" account.
If you have questions about applying for Medicare, please contact me.

Note: If you are currently receiving disability payments from Social Security then you will automatically be enrolled into Medicare in your 25th month of receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). If you have been diagnosed with End Stage Renal disease, then you will qualify for Medicare after your 4th month of being on dialysis.
