That’s what this picture represents.

As a small business owner, it takes effort to find the right people to spend time with. People who lift you up, say your name when you’re not in the room, support you and your business.

This picture is all of that and more. Joining the Angier Chamber of Commerce a few month ago, after spending time with their community, getting to know them, I believe I have joined a friendly, supportive, growth-minded community that fills my cup as a small business owner.

Finding the right people to associate with is key as a small business owner, and I am thankful to all the support I get from my home community, and surrounding communities. (Many of the people who showed up for me yesterday—some after this picture was taken—were from other Chambers and The Holly Springs Small Business Networking Group/HSSBN) THANK YOU ☺️

Know what I realized the other day?

I don’t talk about death.

I say things like “when you are no longer here”, “when you are not here to provide for your family”, “when it’s too late”… etc., rarely do I say “When you die.”

I’m starting to think maybe that needs to change.

Maybe I’m sugarcoating death too much. Maybe I’m doing a disservice to people who continue to wait to get life insurance because I’m not reaching them with my message. (Not hitting the “pain points”.)

I always worry about fear mongering, but you know what? Death is real. People dying without enough life insurance is real. Peoples’ lives being turned upside down when a spouse, child or parent dies is real.

It’s time to get real. It’s time for a reality check. ✔️
