We are proud to announce we presented $48,000 in Member Impact Grant funds to four local organizations through our partnership with Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
Through this program, money donated by Sherwood Community Bank was matched by FHLB Des Moines, up to three dollars for every dollar provided, for the purpose of strengthening our communities through support of local housing, business, and economic needs.

SCB congratulates this year’s grant recipients:

• $12,000 to Love the Harrisonville Square, for improvements to the Harrisonville square
• $12,000 to the City of Harrisonville, MO, for the new Harrisonville Parks & Recreation park project including a baseball batting tunnel and upgrades to soccer field equipment
• $12,000 to Garden City Senior Housing, for new flooring in multiple remodeled units
• $12,000 to the City of Urich Missouri for its Urich City Park pavilion project

“This partnership is a perfect example of why we have existed as a community bank for nearly 125 years,” said Tracy Sloan, president of Sherwood Community Bank. “A good bank helps to open doors of opportunity for its community members, and strong partners such as FHLB Des Moines and its Member Impact Fund help make this possible.”

Back to school season is officially here, and we could not think of a better way to kick it off than celebrating the people who make it all happen.

We had a great time at the Harrisonville Schools staff welcome, sending teachers and staff into the new year with a little something extra. New teacher gifts, returning staff gifts, and a whole lot of local pride packed onto one table.

To every teacher and staff member walking back through those doors this year, thank you. You do the work that shapes this town's future, and we are grateful to bank right alongside you.

🎓 $42,000 in scholarships. One proud community.

Sherwood Community Bank is honored to share that this year's Sam Sloan, Evelyn Sloan, and Beulah Sloan McCoy Scholarship awarded $42,000 to outstanding students from Sherwood High School and Harrisonville High School.

This scholarship was established in 2008 by our Board Chairman Daryl Sloan and his wife Millie, named in honor of their parents and aunt. What started as a way to give back to the communities that have supported our family and our bank has now grown into more than $525,000 in scholarships for local students.

The entire Sloan family and everyone at Sherwood Community Bank could not be prouder of Daryl and Millie's continued commitment to local education. Their belief is simple: invest in young people now, and they will shape the future of our communities later.

Congratulations to all of this year's recipients, and thank you to the faculty and administrators at both schools for helping us recognize students with strong character, academic drive, and a heart for service.
