📚 One of Hampden's hidden gems is our local library.

The Hampden Public Library is so much more than a place to borrow books. It's a place where our community comes together to learn, connect, and grow.

Whether you're introducing a child to the joy of reading, discovering a new hobby, attending a community event, or simply finding a quiet place to slow down, the library has something for everyone.

I love seeing organizations like our library invest in our community. They remind us that some of life's greatest resources are shared—knowledge, connection, and a welcoming place where everyone belongs.

At Norumbega Financial, we believe strong communities are built one relationship at a time. Supporting places like our local library is just one more way we can invest in the people and places that make Maine feel like home.

If you haven't stopped by the Hampden Public Library lately, consider making it part of your week. You might just leave with more than a good book.

💚 What's your favorite thing about the Hampden Public Library? A favorite book, program, or memory? I'd love to hear about it!

🍎 Does September feel a little bit like a second New Year to you?

The routines return. The calendar fills up. Summer spending begins to settle down. And suddenly, it feels like a natural time to get organized again.

That makes September a wonderful time for a Back-to-School Budget Reset—even if no one in your house is heading back to school. ✏️

In this week’s blog, I’m sharing a simple way to give your finances a fall refresh without complicated spreadsheets or a complete budget overhaul.

A little awareness can go a long way: looking at what changed over the summer, what’s coming this fall, and whether your spending and saving still reflect what matters most to you.

Because financial planning doesn’t always require a big change. Sometimes, it’s simply about checking in and making a few thoughtful adjustments.

🍂 Read “Back-to-School Budget Reset” for a simple way to head into the new season feeling a little more organized—and a lot more at peace.

🌿 I’m enjoying my Financial Sabbath this week… are you?

For me, it looks a little like this: a hammock, a good book, the Maine woods, and permission to simply be still. 📖🌲

No checking account balances.
No market updates.
No financial to-do list.

Just a little space to rest, recharge, and remember that **money should serve your life, not the other way around.

Rest is part of stewardship, too. And sometimes stepping away for a bit is exactly what we need to come back with a clearer mind and a little more peace.

What does your Financial Sabbath look like?🕊️

📸 Post a photo in the comments below! I’d love to see how you’re spending your time—whether it’s taking a walk, reading, praying, spending time with family, sitting by the water, or simply enjoying a quiet cup of coffee.

Here’s mine. Now show me yours!

What if one of the healthiest things you could do for your finances this week… was **not look at them?** 🌿

We talk a lot about being responsible with money—checking accounts, following the markets, reviewing budgets, staying informed. But constant attention can become its own kind of stress.

Sometimes, good stewardship includes knowing when to step away.

In this week’s blog, “The Benefits of Financial Rest (A Sabbath for Your Money),” I’m sharing a simple idea: creating intentional space from the financial noise.

No checking balances.
No market headlines.
No money talk.

Just a little room to breathe. ☕️

Because money should serve your life, not the other way around—and sometimes a little distance can bring a lot more clarity.

🌿 Read the full blog to learn how a “Financial Sabbath” could help bring a little more peace of mind to your relationship with money.

🌿 5 Things to Do This Week on Your Financial Sabbath

Your financial life doesn’t need your attention every minute.

This week, give yourself permission to step away from the balances, budgets, market updates, and financial “to-do” list for a little while. Instead, make room for the things that remind you what your money is really meant to support: your life, your faith, your family, and your peace.

Here are 5 things to try:

1. Take a walk without your phone. 🌲
Notice the changing season, breathe deeply, and enjoy where your feet take you. No podcasts. No market news. Just a little Maine fresh air.

2. Spend a few quiet minutes in prayer. 🙏
Instead of asking, “Do I have enough?” take a moment to give thanks for what you already have and ask for wisdom in how you care for it.

3. Read something that feeds your faith—not your financial worries. 📖
Trade the market headlines for Scripture, a devotional, or something that helps you focus on what matters beyond the numbers.

4. Share an unrushed meal with someone you love. ❤️
No budget talk at the table. No phones. Just conversation, laughter, and connection. Some of life's richest moments don't show up on a statement.

5. Practice gratitude for three things money has made possible. 🕊️
Maybe it’s a warm home, time with family, the ability to give, or simply a cup of coffee on the porch. Gratitude can gently shift our focus from *more* to *enough.*

A Financial Sabbath isn’t about ignoring your responsibilities. It’s about remembering that rest can be part of good stewardship, too.

Money should serve your life, not the other way around.

Take the walk. Say the prayer. Enjoy the people around you. And give yourself a little room to simply be.

This little camper isn't fancy. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles.

But it represents something much more valuable: slowing down, spending time with the people I love, exploring new places, and making memories that don't show up on a balance sheet.

That's what financial planning is really about.

It's not about having the biggest portfolio or chasing the highest return. It's about creating the freedom to live the life that matters most to you—whether that's traveling, spoiling your grandkids, spending weekends at camp, supporting causes you care about, or simply enjoying a little more peace of mind.

Everyone's version of a meaningful life looks different, and that's exactly how it should be.

At Norumbega Financial, Caring for your investments means helping you align your financial decisions with the life you want to live. Because when your money supports your values and your goals, it becomes a tool—not a source of stress.

Small, steady steps really do add up.

💚 What does "money serving your life" look like for you?

Some words never lose their meaning.

This framed copy of Rudyard Kipling's If— has been a quiet reminder that character is built over time.

It speaks of staying steady when life feels uncertain. Of having patience when waiting is hard. Of meeting both success and setbacks with humility. Of holding on to what matters most, even when circumstances change.

As a financial advisor, I see many of those same principles at work every day.

Long-term financial success isn't usually about chasing the latest headline or trying to predict what's next. More often, it's about having a thoughtful plan, staying disciplined through life's ups and downs, and remembering why you started in the first place.

Whether we're talking about investing, retirement planning, or simply making wise financial decisions, patience and perspective often matter more than perfection.

At Norumbega Financial, Caring for your investments means helping you stay focused on the bigger picture—so you can feel confident in your financial journey and spend more time enjoying the life you're building.

Sometimes, the best guidance comes from timeless wisdom.

Do you have a favorite quote, poem, or piece of advice that has stayed with you over the years? I'd love to hear it.

When the markets feel uncertain, where do you find your peace?

It's easy to let headlines and market swings stir up worry. But I've learned that one of the greatest sources of confidence isn't found in the market—it's found in perspective.

For many people, that perspective comes from faith. For others, it's a deep commitment to their values, their family, or a well-thought-out long-term plan.

Whatever anchors you, having something bigger than today's headlines can help you stay grounded when emotions run high.

Markets have always experienced seasons of growth and seasons of decline. While we can't control the market, we can choose how we respond to it.

At Norumbega Financial, Caring for your investments means helping you keep your eyes on what matters most. We believe money should serve your life, not the other way around, and that a thoughtful plan can help bring peace of mind through every season.

Because while markets fluctuate, the things we value most—faith, family, purpose, and hope—have a way of keeping us steady.

💚 What helps you stay grounded when life feels uncertain?

400 miles...and counting! 🏃‍♀️🎉

I recently hit 400 miles in my Run the Year challenge, and it's reminded me of something I often talk about with clients...

Big goals aren't achieved all at once.

They're built one step at a time.

No single run got me to 400 miles. It was the decision to lace up my shoes, head out the door, and keep showing up—even on the days I didn't feel like it.

Financial planning works the same way.

Building confidence for retirement, saving for your family's future, or reaching any financial goal doesn't happen overnight. It's the result of small, consistent choices made over time.

That's why I always say, small steps add up fast.

Whether you're working toward a fitness goal or a financial goal, remember to celebrate your progress along the way. Every step counts, and every mile matters.

At Norumbega Financial, Caring for your investments means walking alongside you as you work toward the life you want to build—one thoughtful step at a time.

💚 What's a goal you're working toward this year? I'd love to cheer you on!
