To every firefighter, first responder, emergency worker, volunteer and community member working through the Kaiser Canyon Fire, thank you

You are working long hours in dangerous conditions to protect our neighbors, animals, homes and communities. We are incredibly grateful for your courage and sacrifice.

Before delivering food, water or supplies directly to firefighters or evacuation centers, please confirm current needs with an official organizer. Unrequested deliveries can unintentionally create additional work during an active emergency. Please continue giving emergency vehicles room to travel, obeying road closures and avoiding active fire areas. The greatest support we can provide responders right now is keeping ourselves and them safe.

Most people only think about insurance after something bad happens…
but some of the most useful coverages are the things nobody talks about 👇

✔️ Power goes out and your freezer full of meat is ruined

You know what’s surprisingly common around here?
A shop worth $80k-$200k…
insured for like $20k.

Detached garages, shops, barns, pump houses, hobby buildings they don’t automatically have unlimited coverage just because your home is insured.
And after the last few wildfire seasons in Eastern Washington, this is one of the biggest gaps we’re seeing.
Especially if:
• you’ve added onto the shop
• built it after buying the home
• store equipment/tools inside
• turned it into a workspace
• have a pole building or barn

Insurance isn’t just about “having a policy.”
It’s about making sure the things you actually care about are protected correctly.

This is your reminder to check your detached structure coverage before fire season really kicks in.

“It’s just a couple weekends on Airbnb… I should be fine, right?” I hear this often.

And I hate to be the one to say it, but your standard homeowners policy was never built for that. The second you start renting your home (even part of it) You’ve changed the risk completely.

Now we’re talking:
• Guests you don’t know
• Higher turnover
• Increased liability exposure
• Different types of claims

And here’s the part people don’t realize…
If your policy isn’t set up correctly, a claim can be denied.
Not partially. Not reduced.
Denied.

That means if something happens
damage, injury, liability… you could be paying out of pocket And no, Airbnb’s coverage is not a replacement for proper insurance.

Good news:
There are ways to insure it correctly
(short-term rental endorsements, DP policies, etc.)
But it has to be set up intentionally

👉 If you’re renting your place, even occasionally
let’s make sure you’re actually covered
