I recently had someone ask me about getting disability Insurance and if I knew anything about Oregon Paid Leave. Well here's the story ; Him and his wife had a baby and both took their Oregon Paid Leave and used it all. Three weeks after he returned to work , He wrecked his four wheeler and now faces 3+ months off work with no paid leave and no disability. Luckily he had 6 weeks of PTO built up. When I was asked if I had disability that would cover something like this , I said yes and no. yes I had disability options that would cover something like this and No it would not cover him on this accident because this would be pre-existing. The morale of the story Don't use your OPL just because you can ! or Make sure you have a disability to back it up.
