Most people think cancer insurance is just for medical bills. It’s not.
A cancer diagnosis doesn’t stop the mortgage, groceries or electric bill. And it can bring new expenses like gas to treatment, hotels, childcare and time away from work.
Depending on the policy, cancer insurance can provide cash benefits to help with those everyday expenses too.
I think of it as a financial cushion for real life.
And it’s coverage you need before you need it.

One of the biggest Medicare myths I hear is:
“I’ve paid into Medicare my whole life, so it’s FREE when I turn 65, right?”
I wish! Here’s how it really works:

Part A is premium-free for most people if you or your spouse worked and paid Medicare taxes long enough.
Part B has a monthly premium. And depending on your income, you may pay more.
Then there are still deductibles, copays and coinsurance to think about.
So while Medicare provides great coverage,
*** Medicare is NOT FREE ***
And this is exactly why I spend so much time helping people understand Medicare before they enroll. I want you to know what you’re getting AND what it may cost you.

Quick question.
Do you know where your Medicare insurance card is right now?
Okay, harder question. 😊
Do you know the Member Services number for your plan?
I’m not talking about 1-800-MEDICARE. I mean the number on the back of your insurance card.
That’s the number you want when you have a question about your specific coverage, your doctors, prescriptions, costs or a claim.
And here’s why I want you to know where it is:
When you actually NEED that number, chances are you’re already frustrated or worried. That is not the time you want to be digging through drawers looking for your card.
So do this today:
Find your insurance card. Flip it over. Save the Member Services number in your phone.
Name it something easy to recognize, like “Anthem Insurance” or “Humana Insurance.”
Two minutes now could save you a whole lot of frustration later.
And if you’re looking at your cards thinking, “I’m not even sure which one I’m supposed to use,” please ask me.

Most people on Medicare don’t really know what they’re enrolled in.
Their plan name. Their out-of-pocket maximum. Whether their doctors are in-network. What their prescriptions actually cost.
And I get it! Medicare can be CONFUSING.
But Fall is coming, which means Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is right around the corner.
And here’s the important part:
You can’t know if your plan is still working for you if you don’t know what you have.
So grab your Medicare card, your plan card, and maybe a cup of coffee ☕ and let’s figure it out.
No judgment. No pressure. Just answers.

YOUR MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN HAS BOUNDARIES.
Do you know your plan’s service area?
If your answer is “I’m not sure” or “What does that mean?” you’re not alone.
Your Medicare Advantage plan has a geographic service area. What happens when you need care outside of it depends on your specific plan.
You may be covered.
You may pay more.
Or you may have limited coverage outside the area.
Don’t wait until you’re traveling and need a doctor to find out.
Call the Member Services number on the back of your card and ask:
“If I need non-emergency care outside my service area, am I covered, and what will it cost me?”
One question. Five minutes. Know before you go.

Every August, I find myself having the same conversation with my clients.
** Please don’t wait until October to start thinking about your Medicare coverage **

October has a way of making everything feel urgent. August gives us time to talk, look at your options and decide what, if anything, needs to change.
So, here’s what I tell my clients:
👉 Look at what you have. Your plan, doctors, prescriptions and costs.
👉 Think about what has changed. New doctor? New medication? Different health needs? A move?
👉 Then let’s talk.
Maybe nothing needs to change! But if it does, wouldn’t you rather know now?
