Confused about the difference between Medicare and Medicaid?

You're not alone—and misunderstanding the difference could mean missing out on benefits you may qualify for.

✅ Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older, as well as certain younger individuals with qualifying disabilities.

✅ Medicaid is a state and federal program that helps cover healthcare costs for individuals and families with limited income and resources.

Some people may qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, which can help reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and provide additional benefits.

The key is understanding what programs you may be eligible for and how they work together.

This is one of the most common Medicare misconceptions I hear.

Many people assume that once they turn 65, Medicare will cover their routine eye care and glasses.

Not quite.

Original Medicare generally does not cover:
👓 Routine eye exams for glasses or contact lenses
👓 Eyeglasses
👓 Contact lenses

However, Medicare may cover eye exams and treatment related to certain medical conditions such as:
✔️ Glaucoma
✔️ Cataracts
✔️ Macular Degeneration
✔️ Other medically necessary eye treatments

I recently spoke with someone who had been putting off getting new glasses because they thought Medicare would pay for the exam and prescription update. Months went by before they realized routine vision care wasn't included under Original Medicare.

The good news? Many Medicare Advantage plans offer vision benefits, and there are standalone vision plans available that may help cover routine eye care and eyewear.

Don't assume you're covered—know your options.

📩 DM me the word VISION and let's see what benefits may be available to you.

💡 I Review Medicare Plans Daily—Here's the Mistake I See Most Often

One of the biggest mistakes people make is assuming their Medicare plan is still the best fit year after year without reviewing it.

Plans can change. Prescription drug coverage can change. Provider networks can change. And your healthcare needs may change too.

A quick review could help you:
✔ Lower out-of-pocket costs
✔ Find additional benefits
✔ Confirm your doctors are still in-network
✔ Ensure your prescriptions remain covered

The right Medicare plan isn't always the one you enrolled in years ago it's the one that fits your needs today.

If you haven't reviewed your coverage recently, now may be a good time to take a look.

🤔 What's More Confusing: Medicare, Prescription Coverage, or Medicaid?

If you're like many people, the answer is... ALL OF THEM. 😅

Healthcare coverage can feel like learning a whole new language. Between Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D, prescription drug plans, Medicaid eligibility rules, costs, networks, and enrollment periods, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

Here's the good news: You don't have to figure it out alone.

✅ Medicare helps cover healthcare costs for eligible individuals.
✅ Prescription drug coverage helps reduce the cost of medications.
✅ Medicaid may provide additional assistance for those who qualify based on income and other factors.

The challenge isn't just having coverage—it's understanding how everything works together and making sure you're getting the benefits available to you.

If you've ever found yourself asking:
✔️ "Am I enrolled in the right plan?"
✔️ "Why is my medication so expensive?"
✔️ "Do I qualify for extra help?"
✔️ "What's the difference between Medicare and Medicaid?"

You're not alone.

Education creates confidence, and understanding your options can help you make informed decisions about your healthcare.
