Do you like to dine? Do you like Marriott?

Tomorrow the Amex Bonvoy Brilliant will transition it’s $300 Marriott statement credit to $25 monthly dining credits.

It’s good for restaurants worldwide so probably very easy to use for many.

But for Marriott loyalists the lost convenience of a one-time $300 credit is a bit of a downgrade.

Transferring points to airlines is fun (not to mention usually super lucrative) but sometimes you may have better options.

For example, I recently had the option of transferring 80,000 Membership Rewards to Hawaiian Airlines for a first class ticket or using ~106,000 Membership Rewards via Amex Travel.

Seemed like 80,000 Amex points would be the way to go but with the 25% rebate on the Amex Business Gold Card, it actually worked out to a sweeter deal.

With the rebate, the flight only required 80,751 points plus I earned over 4,000 Hawaiian miles. 🌺

That option also gave much better booking flexibility making it an easy call.

(Other cheaper HA partner options were not available.)

Point is: always entertain your different booking options and don’t forget about the credit card perks available to you.

One of the best ways to optimize value from your credit cards is to also take advantage of the special offers attached to them.

These are things like Amex Offers, Citi Offers, etc.

You might have access to hundreds of these offers but for lots of WalletFlo users only a few of them may be worth pursuing at any given time.

To help you discover the most valuable offers, WalletFlo curates these offers within the WalletFlo app.

Our goal is to make sure users are always aware of the most relevant deals like savings on: HBO Max, Turo, Amazon, etc.

Many of these offers are targeted so if you you are not targeted you can simply remove the promo from your feed.

Also, if you ever see a great offer that's not in the app, be sure to add it using the add promo (blue button)!

American Express just came out with transfer bonuses to many airlines and hotels all at once!

I’ve never seen anything like this before. 😮

Bonuses include the following:

➡️40%: Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia
➡️30%: Virgin Atlantic, Hilton, Marriott
➡️25%: Flying Blue, Aeromexico, Hawaiian
➡️20%: Aerplan, Qantas ➡️15%: LifeMiles

The partners have different transfer ratios and expiration dates and you can find all of those details in the WalletFlo app!

Just don’t act too quickly. It can be really tempting to jump on these bonus rates but unless you have super solid plans in place to use those points once transferred , you probably don’t want to give up the flexibility of your Amex Membership Rewards!

Before you make your next hotel booking make sure you do one thing…

Many Hilton properties now offer a food and beverage credit instead of a complimentary breakfast to elites.

For some travelers (like myself) this new system can work out for the better.

We regularly hit the trails (or the road) super early so we routinely miss out on breakfast.

With the new credit, we’re able to take advantage of a free lunch instead — a nice perk after hours on the highway. 👍

The value of the credits get questionable at some property with expensive breakfast, etc. but for some people like us, the credits actually offer more value!

Diamond status achieved via the Hilton Aspire so had to log that value entry into WalletFlo (swipe to view it)!

For those of you who focus on hotel programs other than Hyatt, don’t sleep on easy to obtain Discoverist Hyatt status.

I’ve been a lowly Discoverist member via the World of Hyatt card for a couple of years now.

I’ve been given numerous upgrades like the upgrade we just got to a Mountain View room in Keystone, Colorado. Early check in and late check out have also been given out liberally.

So if you’re like me and focused more on other programs like Marriott, don’t overlook the value of Discoverist! It’s definitely not worthless. 👍
