I've been grinding my own flour for pizza lately. My kids think I've completely lost it, and some days, I think they're right. It takes forever, it's messy, and I could just buy a bag at the store like a normal person.
But something about it grabbed me. I like knowing what's going into the dough. I like understanding the process instead of just trusting that someone else got it right somewhere down the line.
That's what I've always loved about this work. It's not the investment strategies or the fancy planning tools, but the conversations. Sitting with someone and actually listening to what keeps them up at night. Understanding what they're building toward. Not telling them what to do, but walking through it together so they understand what's actually going into their plan.
I've seen a lot of financial plans over the years. The ones that stick, that people feel good about years later—those aren't the ones that looked the best on paper. They're the ones where someone took the time to understand them, and I think that makes all the difference.
