Microfinance plays a major role in today's society in promoting more inclusive development and growth.

For those interested, the Brookings Institution will be having an event on October 5 (monday) from 2-3:30 EST on the subject of delivering inclusive growth. Some of the speakers at this panel will include experts from the UN, Center for Global Development, and even a member for the President's National Economic Council!

On the RSVP link below, there's a section to register for the webcast. This is a great opportunity to hear from experienced experts in these fields.

As students, retirees and others head abroad this summer in search of experiences volunteering, are they really looking to help others or just themselves?

Thanks to everyone who attended Shawn Humphrey's presentation tonight! We definitely heard some interesting discussions on what it means to truly help others, and reflecting more on where our donations and time should go to.

Lastly, we want to thank the Doherty Center for being able to co-host this event!

Don't forget everyone that today Shawn Humphrey will be speaking at the Innovation House later today at 6:30. It'll be an awesome event on the issues of microfinance, entrepreneurship, and service!

For those who don't know, it's literally where West End restaurant is, just opposite the train tracks (it's the building that looks like a church).

Just a reminder, don't forget to go for the Job Expo tomorrow from 2-5:30 in the Alumni gym!

It is a great chance to meet with new people, hear about new firms, and great opportunities ahead!

Also, if we can get 10 people to come in and register their names under EMI, we can get $100 in funding! Come if you can.

Don't forget, we have our meeting today at 6 in KOBC room 242!

Roughly 2 billion people today lack access to a bank account and other credible markets. Yet, countries across the developing world, namely Tanzania, Kenya, and India have made major strides in increasing and promoting digital and financial inclusion.

This webinar at the Brookings Institute provides some interesting insights as to the progress that has been made and numerous impacts which include increased education, its impacts on microfinance groups, and improvement in women's rights.
