Join the City of Elizabethton Parks and Recreation and the City of Elizabethton - Government for a full afternoon of FREE fun on Saturday, July 4th, featuring inflatables, pageants, and
performances, along with an evening of music and fireworks to celebrate Independence Day!

This year, in celebration of America's 250th anniversary*, Elizabethton Parks & Rec, along with other city departments and staff, are hosting a Patriotic Parade to add to the Independence Day Celebration activities. This parade will feature patriotic performers, floats honoring veterans' groups and local heroes, and will follow the same route as the annual Christmas Parade down E Elk Avenue, finishing at the monument.

Please note, the floats for this parade are pre-planned to honor local veterans groups and we are not accepting float applications, but we are proud to invite veterans and Armed Forces members in our community to join in the parade. Any veterans or currently serving members who would like to participate can meet at the staging area on Elm Street between E. Elk Ave and E. E Street between 5:00-5:30 PM.

A full breakdown of the event is as follows:
● 4:00 P.M. - Event Kick-Off, featuring The Little Miss Firecracker pageant, dance performances,
face painting, Free Inflatables, food trucks and more!
● 6:00 P.M. - Patriotic Parade in Downtown Elizabethton
● 7:00 P.M. - Patriotic ceremony
● 7:30 P.M. - Sail On: The Beach Boys Tribute band will take the stage for a fun-filled concert.
● Approx. 9:30 - Close out the evening with an incredible Fireworks Finale, sponsored by the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce.

Various food trucks will be open all day and night, serving a variety of lunch, snack, and dinner options, including Good Karma Kettle Corn, Sideshow Station Concessions, Tin Can Diner, The Patty Shack, Appalachian Ice, Diggy Donuts, Cardinal Kitchen, Banjo BBQ, Brunch Box 423, and Yankee Doodle Doggie. Make sure you bring along a blanket or chair to stay and enjoy the day with us!

Local scams in our region, read below ⬇️

PSA:

We would like to make the public aware of some of the most common fraud schemes that are showing up in our community. Along with the below scams, please remember that our Department, along with any government agency, will not call and ask for money or tell you about a warrant you have. Some of the most common scams are below:

Publishers Clearing House: People calling from unknown numbers stating that they are with publishers clearing house or a similar organization. Often, they will say you have won a large lump sum of money; however, they will ask you to send them money for a processing fee to release the funds. This, and other calls like it, are scams.

Cryptocurrency: Anyone who calls with an investment scheme or anything involving cryptocurrency or cryptocurrency ATMs is likely a scam.

Gift Cards: Anyone who calls and states there are financial problems for you to go purchase gift cards and give them the card number over the phone are scams. Do not in any circumstance purchase a gift card and give people the number over the phone- these are scams.

Romance: Online or over the phone dating incidents. If you are talking to someone over the phone and are in a “relationship” with them but have never met them, if they ask you for money this is likely a scam. Many people claim to be looking for a relationship but will never meet in person and will request money for personal issues. Further, if someone you do not know contacts you over social media or over the phone and says they will pay you if you just talk to them, do not accept money from them as this is a scam as well.
