This one has been weighing on me.
Back in February, I connected with someone looking for life insurance for their mother. We spoke once, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to reconnect with them afterward.
Recently, they reached back out after their mother experienced a significant change in her health.
Unfortunately, that change affected the coverage options available to her. In February, there were options for immediate coverage. By the time we reconnected, the options available would have included a waiting period before the full benefit was available.
Then last week, I received the message I never wanted to receive.
Their mother had unexpectedly passed away.
I wasn't able to get her covered in time.
What makes this even harder is that this family had already experienced another loss that significantly impacted their retirement and savings. Now, they're facing another loss and another financial burden.
I understand that conversations about life insurance can be uncomfortable. And when you're healthy today, it's easy to think you have plenty of time to worry about it later.
That's exactly why the best time to look at your options is while you're healthy.
Please don't wait until something happens. At that point, your eligibility, options, and price can change, and sometimes it may already be too late.
I'm sharing this because I don't want another family to find themselves in this position. Life can change quickly, and we don't always get the warning or the time we think we'll have.
If you've been putting it off, even just having the conversation today can make a difference.
