The Merge

Ethereum was initially developed as a Proof-of-Work (PoW) blockchain, which requires miners like Bitcoin. In mid-2015, the concept of the difficulty bomb was introduced to force the network to migrate to the more scalable Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm.

Staking method requires users to leverage their ether as a means to verify transactions and mint tokens. It uses far less power and is expected to translate into faster transactions.

As planned, we will upgrade the TestNet to a new version late this week. This is the last major TestNet release before the MainNet launch, which includes following updates and optimizations:

• Introduced hybrid validator and updated consensus algorithm to choose validator set using hybrid score, which is theoretically proved to be more decentralized and secure compared with the previous design.

• Fixed some issues related to system security and performance.

In order to ensure the new TestNet runs smoothly and securely, we will clean up the existing data of the current TestNet in this upgrade. We hope everyone can understand.

Please continue to support the team and conduct various tests and experiments on the new TestNet. We will make every effort to release the MainNet as soon as possible after the TestNet proves to be stable and secure enough.
