🏈 BOONE'S OWN HEADED TO THE NFL!

Watauga High School alum Anderson Castle has signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft.

Castle grew up right here in Boone and was a standout at Watauga High School, where he helped lead the Pioneers to the 2019 3AA West Championship game — one of the deepest playoff runs in program history at the time. From there, he went on to play four seasons at Appalachian State before transferring to Duke for his final college season in 2025.

His senior year at Duke was his best — 115 carries, 488 yards, and a career-high 12 rushing touchdowns for the Blue Devils. Over his full college career, he totaled more than 1,500 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns.

Now he gets his shot at the next level with the Colts. Congratulations, Anderson! The High Country is proud of you. 🤍💙

Wilkesboro Dragstrip Confirms 2026 Return Under New Management

WILKESBORO, N.C. — After weeks of speculation and widespread rumors about its future, Wilkesboro Dragstrip has confirmed it will reopen for the 2026 season under new leadership and a new name: Wilkesboro Motorsports Park.

The track’s newly launched page addressed the confusion directly, stating that the facility is not closing and will operate next year with a new management team. The post emphasized that the page will be used strictly for official updates and advertising, adding that more details about the upcoming season will be released as plans come together.
As part of the announcement, the track introduced its new operators, Joe Greene and Deana Rupard Coleman, who will oversee the transition and guide the facility into its next phase. Additional team members, the official opening date, and the full 2026 schedule will be announced soon.

The clarification follows a period of uncertainty in the racing community, where rumors of a shutdown circulated despite no formal closure statement ever being issued by the track. The new leadership’s confirmation has already sparked renewed optimism among racers and longtime supporters who consider the dragstrip a staple of the region’s motorsports culture.
While details about improvements, operations, or event plans have not yet been released, the commitment to reopen under new management has reignited interest in the facility’s future.
Updates will continue to be posted on the Wilkesboro Motorsports Park page as preparations for the 2026 season move forward.

NCBAA Leadership at the 2026 PBUS Winter Meeting – Las Vegas

This week, NCBAA President Julie Henderson, Vice President Tracy Lowe, and Treasurer Mark Beaver traveled to Las Vegas to attend the 2026 PBUS Winter Meeting.

Meetings and educational sessions began Sunday with the Council of Presidents Meeting and the PBUS Board Meeting, attended by President Henderson and Vice President Lowe. Throughout the week, leadership participated in a full schedule of presentations and discussions addressing issues directly impacting bail agents nationwide, including:

• Update on Cashless Bail – Chris Blaylock
• Model State Resolution on Cashless Bail – Eric Granof
• Bail Tracking & Advocacy Issues – Chris Blaylock
• Fugitive Extradition – Facilitated by Attorney Andrew Alperstein
• Investigative Practices – Michele Stuart
• The Future of Bail - Mike Morrison, President MSBAA
• Town Hall led by Lewis Garrison, Bail Director, Oklahoma Department of Insurance

In addition to structured sessions, NCBAA leadership met directly with surety representatives, bail agents from across the country, and national association leaders to exchange ideas, discuss legislative challenges, and develop strategies to better serve North Carolina.

We were proud to see fellow North Carolina agents in attendance and engaged in the national conversation.

A special congratulations to NCBAA Treasurer Mark Beaver, who was presented the PBUS Individual of the Year Award by President David Stuckman for his extraordinary coordination of over 100 supply flights into Ashe County, NC following Hurricane Helene. His selfless commitment to our communities represents the very best of this profession.

We are often asked why NCBAA leadership travels across the country — at our own expense — to attend national meetings. The answer is simple.

This Board is committed to identifying emerging issues before they reach our state, developing solutions, strengthening relationships, and ensuring North Carolina agents are informed, prepared, and supported. We also stand ready to assist other states as they face challenges of their own.

Seeing collaboration between national partners — including presentations from ABC affiliates at a PBUS conference — reinforces that unity strengthens our profession.

Some of the most overlooked people in our community are behind prison walls.

But they are not beyond hope.

Through our Prison Ministry, individuals receive a copy of Behind Enemy Lines, a powerful book bringing truth and hope to those who need it most.

Every week, men and women are reminded they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

And this ministry needs more people willing to step in.

You don’t need a theology degree.
You don’t need special experience.

It starts with a willing heart and a readiness to step in.

If you’ve been looking for a place to serve with real impact, this is one. 💙

Comment “I’m in” if you’re interested in serving.

We’ll drop the link to Behind Enemy Lines and our Prison Ministry in the comments 👇

Tip #7 & #8 – Bond Isn’t Just About Getting Out

Before they walk out, understand every bond condition, no contact orders, travel limits, curfews, testing, check-ins. One mistake can revoke the bond.

And once they’re home? Start preparing for court immediately. Mark the date. Keep paperwork organized. Stay in contact with the attorney. Do not miss anything.

Bond is a second chance, protect it.
