My goal at Rethink Wealth is simple: to serve those who believe in hard work, in making a meaningful difference, and in the power of a well-crafted plan to secure a future that doesn't need to be shown off but can be deeply felt in the lives it improves

No pictures from last night… but honestly, that’s probably fitting.

Because what stood out wasn’t anything you could capture in a photo—it was the conversations.

Austin Bransgrove, CFP®, ChFC®, RICP®, CExP™, AEP® and I had the chance to spend the evening with a group of 20+ people talking through estate planning, legacy, and what it really means to align your financial decisions with what matters most.

What I appreciated most wasn’t just the turnout—it was the engagement.

Questions, real-life stories, and people starting to think through how they want to leave an impact for their families and the causes they care about.

Austin and I complement each other well—he brings strong technical clarity, and together we try to simplify what can feel overwhelming into something people can actually take action on.

I’m grateful for the group that showed up, and for the conversations that are continuing beyond the event.

I had an amazing last few days of getting to be with a group of people that were working to get better at our craft. Most of the public doesn’t understand or appreciate what we do, but that’s not why we do it.

I once was on that side of the table and now it’s an honor to pay it forward to help them achieve their dreams.

I had the opportunity to be with a group of men this weekend to work on becoming better men, husbands, farthers, and leaders in our careers. I’ve been focusing more on self improvement over the last couple of years and this was another positive step in the right direction.

Good business ownership creates options.

Not just for growth—but for time, flexibility, and choice.

The more optionality you have, the more control you tend to feel over both the business and your life.

That’s rarely luck. It’s usually intentional.

If this way of thinking resonates, I’m always open to a conversation with business owners who are focused on building flexibility—not just momentum.

Your buy‑sell agreement was written for the business you had back then—not the one you have today.

If things are going well, that’s actually the risk.

As your business grows:
• Value changes
• Partners’ roles change
• Funding needs change
• Personal goals change

Yet many buy‑sell agreements sit untouched for years.

Reviewing your buy‑sell agreement every few years isn’t busywork—it’s risk management. An outdated agreement may not protect your partners, your family, or the actual value of the business you’ve worked so hard to build.

Growth is good.
Unreviewed documents? Not so much.

If it’s been a while since you’ve reviewed yours, reach out. A simple review can go a long way toward making sure it still does what you intended it to do.

Thinking about your exit strategy—but don’t want to sell to a competitor or private equity?

An Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) can be a powerful transition solution for the right business owner.

Here’s why many owners consider an ESOP:
▪️ Provides a buyer for your business—while allowing you to stay involved
▪️ Rewards employees with a true ownership stake and retirement benefit
▪️ Helps preserve company culture and legacy
▪️ Offers potential tax advantages depending on your business structure
▪️ Can be funded with pre‑tax dollars, including deductible loan principal

An ESOP isn’t right for every company—but businesses with strong cash flow, solid management, and long‑term profitability may find it a compelling alternative to a traditional sale.

If preserving your legacy and planning a financially efficient exit matter to you, an ESOP is worth a conversation.

I enjoyed being a part of the Little Elm gifted and talented field trip at the St Arbor Community Garden field trip today. Watching the young minds learning about what it takes to grow food to put on the table.
