This one meant a lot to me.

When families start asking about a reverse mortgage, it’s usually because something feels tight — the budget, the future, the “what ifs.” And it’s rarely just one person making the decision. It’s spouses, kids, sometimes even grandkids, all wanting to make sure Mom and Dad are going to be okay.

I don’t take that lightly.

The questions can be detailed. Sometimes repetitive. Sometimes emotional. And that’s okay — they should be. This isn’t just paperwork. It’s someone’s home and their sense of security.

When a family gets to the point where they feel confident and at peace with their decision, that’s the part that sticks with me. Not the loan itself — the relief.

That’s why I do what I do.

February is Black History Month and it matters to me because it gives us space to intentionally honor the legacy, leadership, and lasting impact of the Black community — in our history and in our communities today.

When I reflect on Black history, I see resilience, courage, innovation, and faith that have shaped our nation for the better.

I believe we are all created equal by one Creator. Every person carries dignity, purpose, and gifts meant to build and uplift others. That truth should guide how we lead, how we work, and how we treat one another.

We should all be committed to continuing to learn, listen, and help build a future rooted in respect, opportunity, and unity...not just this month, but in all the years to come.

Most families start this conversation with a lot of questions — and honestly, that makes sense. Reverse mortgages can sound confusing at first. But when people are given the time to talk it through and really understand their options, it often turns into relief and peace of mind, especially when it means staying in the home they love.
Helping seniors and their families feel comfortable, informed, and supported through that process should be a natural extension of who we are and what we do for our clients.
